With so many islands to choose from, we need help! My husband and I would like to plan a vacation to Hawaii. We are childless and in our early 30's. We would like to sightsee, shop, and of course spend time at the beach. We don't have a ton of money to spend, so is there any island that is less expensive than another? Would like to move to Hawaii with my 3 kids. I am a single mom and want to live in a nice safe town, close to lots of things to do with the kids. Had considered the other Hawaiian Islands, but think they may be too 'boring' for the kids - so thought Oahu would be more fun. Not sure which towns would be best. Need affordable housing (if that's even a reality over there now in 2007) - any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

We are going there for 6-7 days in a couple of weeks. How is the weather there in mid March? I would like to go snorkeling, but do I have to be a good swimmer?
