Mexicans have great kinship with their brethren north of the border. A large percentage of the Mexican population have relatives in US and elsewhere across the US/Mexico border. There is immense solidarity in Mexico with Mexican immigrants on this side as was demonstrated by the recent "nada gringo" action in support of the May 1st pro-immigrant boycott in the USA.

Presently there are large colonies of US retirees living in some of the most beautiful areas of Mexico like San Miguel de Allende, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. Many have bought homes or leased land under special Mexican laws that allow them to do so. Mexicans and the government have welcomed these retirees with open arms but as anti-Mexican xenophobes escalate their rhetoric of hate against Mexican immigrants things are beginning to change.

The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday on certain examples of the great dangers that US retirees in Mexico face as bigots on this side are allowed to continue with their irre

I am so sick of people making fun of Tijuana that is so poor or dirty or whatever, or that you should not go to the dentist there, like if there weren't any highly educated professionals there. Doesn't people realize that just like any city or country in the world it has it's nice and ugly areas. Tijuana is huge, there are so many new developments that if you are not from around you don't now were to go. I lived almost all my life there and I can say LA is not as pretty either. Tijuana has incredibly beautiful neighborhoods just like San Marino Ca or Beverly Hills. People educated in foreign countries.Great restaurants, beautiful private schools. Why are people so narrow minded and believe any stereotype they hear.

I don't want to have to drag 2 large suitcases as I am stopping off in Cali first. Is there a cheap (USPS, FedEX) way of getting my clothes/small electronics without any customs problems?

Is there any way to fly there without a passport? My flight is on Saturday and I have lost my passport. I have heard two things from people today and want to know if either are true:

1. If your flight was booked before Jan. 23rd a birth certificate and photo ID can substitute for a passport.

2. The air travel into Mexico passport deadline was pushed back to March 2007.

PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

We can't decide which place to go. We want someplace that has good snorkeling and nice beaches during the day and to have fun at night. I am 29 and my husband is 32. We are using our rci exchange, so I don't have that many hotels to choose from. I was thinking the Cozumel Palace, Adventura Palace, or Pueblo Bonito Rose. Please help!

It is so disturbing that the Mexican media tries to claim these so-called, blond, blue-eyed Nordic-looking Argentine "actors" like Sebastian Rulli, Christian Bach, Juan Soler, Patricio Borghetti and Rene Strickler as "their own", simply because of their pale skin, as if that's a credit to Mexico! Not even a Spanish, or Italian actor gets this much attention, let alone a Mexican, mestizo actor! Would they have get the red carpet treatment if they were mestizos from the provinces of Jujuy or Salta in Argentina? I don't think so! Back home in Argentina, they'd probably be waiting tables! No wander they never leave Mexico! Jerks! If they think it's because of their great acting skills, they're incredible naive.

Seem like most Mexicans will be happy to be part of USA.
And plus Mexico has OIL. Some of us can move to Mexico
and work there. And plus the weather is nice there.

It seems more and more tourists travelling to mexico are becoming targets and getting hurt or killed. How do you feel? Is it really worth taking a chance and putting your life in danger in a country were they don't seem to care about your personal safety or what happens to you? If you personally know of safer places to travel, please let us all know.
