Isn't it better to look forward to the future rather than dwell in the past?

Turks, I think here’s the hottest discussion ever; may I ask your opinion about independent Kurdistan? I think the public opinion in Turkey should be prepared to the idea of giving Turkish Kurdistan complete independence; my reasons:
1) separating from Kurdistan will increase Turkish mono-ethnicity and stability;
2) it’s better to have a friendly or neutral (or even unfriendly) neighbour than an enemy inside;
3) no nation was ruined because of losing some territory with foreign population, e.g. GB, France, Russia; there’s nothing essentially valuable in Kurdistan; let them solve their own problems themselves, or sooner or later the whole Turkey will work for them to bribe their loyalty;
4) history says: all nations grow out of their cradles sooner or later, unless they are assimilated on their own good will; (very few examples though);

Who thinks that the USA jeapordized their position in Turkey (Bush certainly does) by saying the Armenians died with the Genocide.
I am American and personally I have never met an honest Armenian and I live in Watertown MA home of most Armenians in the USA. They are usually drug dealers and their women are sleazy and all have this chip on their shoulders about this so called Genocide. Turks are genuinely nice people and the Ottoman Empire was good to everyone even giving the Jews religious freedom.
Personally I think the House had no reason to make this stupid decision (regardless how I feel) only because NOW Turkey, America's ONLY Muslim ally in the Middle East is now compromised. The Armenians offer the USA nothing but spicy good where the Turks offered us their airbases and ports. BIG mistake today!

We all know that the issue of the slaughter of Armenians at the beginning of the 20th century is currently in the news. The US is discussing it in terms of "genocide"- see statements from W before he was elected calling it a genocide. Turkey maintains that the slaughter was not systematic and to eradicate the Armenian people, and is extremely offended by the actions of the US.

So, people in Turkey today (esp young people)- what are your thoughts on:
a. This current issue
b. The slaughter of Armenians. Was it or was it not a genocide, and should it be labeled as such?
c. The responsibility of the CURRENT Turkish gov't

I'm really interested to hear your thoughts

bestonnet made a good response on ithinkiate's question. He/she basically said, what does it matter if the colonial Americans aren't alive today? Wouldn't the same defense count for the Turks? You, me, and the rest of the Yahoo Turkey community was never alive when the "supposed" genocide occured, so why should we have to discuss this issue if the US can't even discuss their issues?

Did USA cause a bloody Iraqi conflict for the sake of regional power and oil, during which hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and many US soldiers died? When will USA apologize the Iraqis and the world in general for the lies its administration told to justify this atrocity? How much reparation will USA pay to the Iraqi nation and how much is it paying to the families of the soldiers?

...to investigate in its parliament the ethnic cleansing and mass murders carried out by the US 1- in USA against native Americans, 2- in Viet Nam, 3- in Iraq (650,000 civilians killed); also, the ethnic cleansing and murder of Algerians by France;
also, mass murder of Palestinian civilians by Israel;
also, ethnic cleansing of Turkish Cypriots by Greek Cypriot government forces and EOKA;
also, the mass murder of civilians in Africa by Belgium, France, Britain...
Are there any parliaments in the civilized world to investigate and pass a bill to condemn them?
p.s. no excuses or 'that was a long time ago' pretenses please.

I think the style is cute, but personally I don't like the religious idea behind it. It's teaching young girls to cover their beautiful bodies in order to please muslim men. To me, that's just wrong. God created your body for a reason and no woman should cover it up and feel ashamed of it.
