We are moving to Townsville to study but need to pick up furniture in Melbourne at relatives house.

Anyone done that trip before, how long does it take? (yes i realize Australia is HUGE and we'll be driving for a few days...maybe more??). Also, any estimate on fuelcosts driving a secondhand 4*4? Thankfull for any thoughts!

Ive been in touch with the Australian government who stated they would only except my parrot from New Zealand, but new zealand dont let parrots in from the UK. He is an African Grey Parrot and hes my Baby, he talks to me all day, he says 'good morning honey' In the morning and 'nite nite' at bedtime. He drinks my tea and dances for me. I dont want to leave him. My whole family is moving to Australia and I need a way to get him in Australia with me. I dont care about any costs. Can you help!!!!!

Going on our early retirement holiday before we look for part time work. What is the weather like in Sydney, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide areas in January? Will we need jackets, waterproofs, umbrellas etc. Or is it hot all the time?

We have a friend staying here in the US from Aust. and everything we do he expects there to be drinking. And not just a beer-he's appalled that we don't get Jim & Coke in a can here. It was a horrible shock that we don't have liquor at our race-tracks on a Friday evening race. His second night here he drank 1/3 of a bottle of Jim Beam and passed out in my yard. We are broing cause we go to local little pubs, not big raging clubs with hundreds of people. Is this normal Australian behavior or does he need to grow up?

Hi

My wife, 5 yr old son & I are going to move to OZ. The toss up is bet. Perth & Melbourne.

I've been doing a fair bit of reading, but still haven't made up our minds about Perth vs Melbourne.

The main answer that I think I am looking for is quality of life in the two places. In other words, the weather, fun activities, commuting, work/life balance, income potential are the things that'll bring joy to our lives.

I am a graphic designer, and my wife is a dentist. And the most important aspect is our son and his enjoyment of growing up.

I am planning on moving to Oz. Can anyone recommend where to live? Looking for nice location not too busy not too quiet, good schools, nice homes, somewhere quite suburban. Any ideas?

We need accomodations with a kitchen and heat for approximently 2 months beginning on or around August 1st.

We are a couple needing a queen size bed. We are quiet and will be working in the bush 10 hours a day. We are looking for a room in the price range of 20 to 25 dollars a day near Ballarat in a quiet location.
Thank you
