My boyfriend and I intend on going to New Zealand for about 3 weeks next Spring. We'd like to cover both islands but can't make up our minds between a coach tour and a self-drive package. We both drive so it wouldn't be just one person doing all the work. Just wondered if anyone had been on either type of tour and had opinions on what they thought were the pros and cons.

Does anybody know the dreamtime stories of Uluru (Ayer's Rock), Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and Warrantanga (this one might be spelled wrong but I mean King's Canyon)? For Uluru I remember something with lost kids and a big snake (not the same stories) but unfortunately I don't remember all :(. And if you know an Aboriginal word for "children" that would be great! Thanks a lot in advance!

Well, I learned that from another frame of refrence Australia/New Zealand/Papua New Guinea/etc are all a part of Oceania. If Australia is a continent, then inside it would include New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, etc, AND AUSTRALIA. How is there an Australia, Australia? Can someone Clear this up

I'll be buying a campervan in Sydney and spending 8-9 months driving clockwise to Darwin, then through the centre (stopping off for Uluru) to Adelaide, and then clockwise up to at least Brisbane, possibly Cairns. I'm finding it relatively easy budgetting for living costs, accommodation etc, but don't know what I should expect to pay for petrol. Has anyone done a similar trip, or know what I could spend a week/month on petrol?

Hey Aussies, in your opinion, which of your beaches is the greatest? And by that, I mean anything that you define as greatest from which is the cleanest, which has the best place to surf, which one has the hottest crowd, or perhaps which one is the most relaxing. The one I hear mentioned the most is Bondi beach. I was just curious as to what you thought. Thanks!

I've heard great things about Australia, that the people are nice, and it's beautiful.. However, I heard of attacks on non-whites on beaches. Is this true? Is it an isolated incident? I don't mean to offend, I just would like to know.
