Fremantle south of Perth is great. For the nightlife, markets, micro breweries and friendliness of the people.
I was in W.A. a couple of years ago from the East Coast and Freo (as it is called) was my favourite spot.

Perth and Fremantle are the obvious choices, but Broome has
a booming economy and you may find its beauty, low rents and
job opportunities a better choice.

I live in Perth and it is a great city, not too big, great weather. there are heaps of nice small towns in the bush too, If the city is too big. Kalbarri is a beautiful little town, but the locals can be a bit cliquey.
