planning a trip to where in Australia??? we are a huge country with a red centre and white coastline....so where do you want to go?
Im guessing that you will probably go to Sydney...so checking out the Opra (not the "Oprah") house is a great place to see a performance...they acoustics are great. Do a Harbour Bridge climb...the view is awesome. If you want to check out something different in the area...may I suggest a trip to the Blue Mountains. Its a part of Australia that many tourist dont get to experience...
If you want to see the real Australia...away from the big cities then I suggest that you hop a plane to Cairns, Far North Queensland. From here you can see the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree World Heritage Rainforest and Cape Tribulation. There is the Atherton Tablelands to explore and also Undara Lava Tubes around Chilligoe. You can drive up to Cooktown and see where Captian James Cook first landed in Australia with the First Fleet. Its just a small town with a lot of history, but really most of the places that have real historic value are not the major cities such are Sydney and Melbourne.
I also suggest if you have time that you check out the Red Centre...including Ayres Rock and the Simpson Desert...if you want to see awesome landscapes and colors from out of this world they I highly suggest that you do go to Alice Springs. You will never see any thing like it anywhere else in the world....at sunset Ayres Rock will change color before your eyes...from red, to orange to purple to grey and others...its just amazing. Also, the landscape out there looks something like that on the moon.
Other things to do...Whale Watching at Hervey Bay, swimming with dolphins at Monkey Mia, check out the the coastline around Western Australia.
I love Australia and can never say enough about it. Dont be scared when you come down here...seriously, I was more scared living in the US. I am way more worried about what people can do to me than what an animal might do if I am stupid enough to provoke it!
