I plan to go to Ko Samui for my honeymoon. Do you have any recommendations on places to stay, things to do and other islands nearby that are worth a visit? I am there for 2 weeks.

I’m holding a Singaporean passport, but currently working in the EU. I’m taking a career break and plan to stay in Thailand as a tourist for a while. I heard that every foreign tourist, entering Thailand, will have their passport stamped with a 30-day entrance visa. After that, if they want to stay, the foreigners often make runs to Cambodia or Malaysia to renew their visas.

Do you know if this process also applies to Singapore citizens and others in the Asean? Can we enter Thailand many times, each less than 30 days, without having to renew our visas at a Thai consulate or an agent?

My sincere thanks,

I have heard from friends and read from news reports that the chatuchak market in Bangkok is no longer operating. Is this true? Can anyone recommend me other cheap places to shop besides MBK?

I've just watched an elderly lady with fabulous antiques letting them go for a song!!! The lady didn't seem to be too convinced about the low prices but the presenters obviously need to sell things in order to have a programme. And Lorne Spicer, the presenter, - chav or what? She's a real Essex girl - what qualifies her to go rummaging about people's homes and flogging off their family treasures for a pittance?

Traveling (alone and female) to Thailand (end of Jan / beginning of Feb). Would you get a room now or wait until you arrive? Also, if you have an itinerary you have utilized in the past, I am open for suggestions as to which places to visit :)
Happy New Year.

I've met a few Thai people and only knew them by thier nicknames and later found out thier real names were the typical "long" Thai name, but the nickname did not follow the name. I knew two girls nicknamed Nok, but both had very dissimiliar real names. In English a nickname for Susan is Sue, Richard is Rick, etc. One can usually tell what a persons real name is by thier nickname. Just curious how the Thai nickname is aquired.
