Air Asia and Nok Air

You should check out Orient Thai, www.fly12go.com

THey have very cheap good flights, locals use it...it's only like THB 1,700 per way inclusive of all taxes already. THat's like US $50 per way.

I'm not too sure about Air Asia because living in Phuket, I've tried it twice and two times it's been delayed because they cannot get enough passengers to book the flight, so they joined the first flight with the later flight to minimize cost, meaning they only make one flight out, not two, and that meant a 4-hour wait at the airport cos I only found out when I tried to check-in at the counter. Not even a call beforehand to warn us about flight delays.

Nok air is another domestic budget airline. It's only an hour ride, so if you don't mind something really fancy, I would really recommend Orient Thai. I always fly that when I get to Bangkok from Phuket.

There don't seem to be many 'cheap' flights to Phuket. The biggest factors you need to know are how far in advance you book the flight and of course the time of year. Now is the high season, so good luck.

You might consider Air Asia from Bkk to Phuket. Certainly MUCH cheaper than Thai Airways (even in high season)!!

I'm going to check this further...but I flew Thai Air last month (same trip)...and it sucked. They have such strict limitatons on baggage weight. I ended up paying an extra $78 just for one leg of the flight.

Since I flew from the US to Asia and stayed there for a month, I couldn't dump my luggage anywhere. It was a nightmare.
