There have been changes recently to Thailand's immigration laws, but I'm not sure if the changes affect the fines for overstaying. The last I heard, the fine was 500 baht per day to a maximum fine of 20,000 baht. (Children are subject to the same fine only if they are over 7 yrs of age.) If you surrender yourself to Immigration, it is usually a simple matter of paying the fine and getting your visa renewed. If, however, you are stopped for ANY reason by police and they notice that you are in an overstay situation, it can be VERY serious. Here is what www.thaivisa.com says about it...

"Warning - Note that overstaying is technically breaking the law and while there is little problem with it if you 'surrender' yourself to Immigration at the airport, it can be a very different story if you are stopped by the police beforehand for whatever reason and are found to have overstayed - no matter for how long. This may well lead to you being detained in one of the feared Immigration Detention Center for a few days while your case is processed. Needless to say, this is an experience you can well do without, as conditions inside have been described by Amnesty International as 'cruel and degrading' and 'seriously overcrowded'."

Your case is quite difficult. For overstaying, you get the fine of Baht 300 for every day that you overstayed. But that is only for a few days of overstaying. It will surely be a lot of money if you pay Baht 300 per day for 1 year (Baht 300 x 365 days).

Maybe the best way is to inquire to the Thai immigration authorities for the best solution to your case.

I thought the visa only lasts for 30days.. I would say contact the British Embassy in Bangkok. Chances are they aren't going to come down on you too hard if you go via them. Good Luck
