From ANY container port, find the container bringing people IN and ride the empty one back to collect the next load; they may even pay you for looking after the container!

If your going after December 15th then you will pay a higher Winterval price. EVA air are the cheapest for a direct flight from Heathrow. Emirates have the best deals for frequent flyers and have a stopover in Dubai, which is good for shopping.

This's my experiences many years ago but you can recheck it now.

I flew from London to Hong Kong on the British Caledanien (Spelling?.. guess the co. was bankrupted) at ony 199 USD. It's a standby ticket and I'd to wait at the airport for one day. As soon as I arrive HK, I flew Thai Inter. from HK to Bkk at 130 USD. Total cost was 329 USD. Since the airfares have significantly increased due to higher fuel cost, you may recheck the new fares with the low cost airlines (or do some reseach on stand by ticket with major airlines).

By applying the same rules, you can fly from London with the low cost airline and HK to Bkk (low cost airlines may offer ~ 60-80 pounds for return trip, you can check).
