I fly into Bangkok on the 8th and only want to spend 2 days there to see the place. I have recently aquired my Padi licence and would like to dive somewhere nice.

Great place to go dude.... i went there two years ago for my mates wedding.... we stopped off in Bangkok for three days first. Try the bars and stuff like that just for the experience. There is a bar in Bangkok that broadcasts live acts... there is a Tom Jones and Elvis who are regulars there.... you will pi*ss yourself laughing and you dont get hassled by girls after s*ex which makes a change. Take a visit to the golden temple as well if you want a bit of culture when you go away as well..... its massive. In Phuket there are loads of places to go diving, go to one of the local diving places and ask them to get a boat for you to one of the many islands where there are hardly any people around so the diving is better. There are Elephant rides in Phuket which is good fun... so enjoy... Im green with envy lol

I just remembered.... the food is well cheap and tastes great.... it does not give you the runs so dont worry about that. Have you got a spare ticket?

You Must go to Phi Phi Islands. You can do a lot of amazing diving and it really easy to organise from Phi Phi Don.From Bangkok just get the bus/ over night train or get a cheap flight to krabi. If you want to fly you can organise this through One2Go airlines. I think it cost us about 25 quid each way. Or you can easily arrange bus in Bangkok Kao San road. Phi Phi was hit in the Tsunami but it is still breathe-takingly beautiful - i was there 1 month ago. Dont be put off, it needs support from tourists. Dont waste time going to another island -this is why Thailand is famous for its beaches...
In Bangkok... there is so much to do. If you are there at the weekend- check out the chatuchak market (last stop on the north boundsky train) it is massive!!!! It gets really hot there though so go early and avoid midday. Why not spend the hottest park of the day in an airconditioned shopping mall they're like nothing I've seen in England. Get on the river bus services - which has a flat fee of 13 Baht -dead cheap and you can use this to pop around town. Do not go on the tourist boats- you will miss real thai life. This is how people living in Bangkok get to work or about town. There is a boat stop near the Grand Palace and Wat PO-which are also definately worth seeing if you are in Town!!!!
(Food is great here - eat off the streets stalls it tastes fantastic!)

Have a great time - This is my favourite country in the World!!!
Sawadee KA!!!!

thailand is a cool country. i suggest shopping. everything there is really cheap and you can bargain at most places. it's always fun to walk around in the mornings to the market or something like that. if you're into native foods, the local street vendors have the most authentic, but i do warn you that it may give you the runs for awhile. i don't think there are good places to dive in bangkok. the best places for diving are definitely in the southern part of thailand, like phuket island. the scenery is really neat there, a lot of tourists go to the southern part.

Ko Tao is the place to dive - cheap and beautiful. I recommend doing a course there instead of just diving because it will allow you to do more and will increase your level of diving expertise. Also Ko Tao is one of the cheapest places in the world to do a diving course. I personally did my advanved level there and it was great - including a night dive that I still rate as one of my best dives ever - enjoy!!!

They have some fantastic beaches and you could get a guide for around £5 per day, but remember by careful as there are some people who will rob you for anything and whatch out for the girls or should i say shemales, sometimes it is hard to tell until the last minute. good luck
