You are in deep S*** if you get caught with illegal drugs in Thailand. When (not if) you are convicted you will go to the Monkey House ( that's what we call Thai prison). The length of time depends on the drugs and how much of it you have. Conditions are pathetic and food even worse. Unless you have someone to bring you food and necessary medications (like for blood pressure or diabetes) you won't get them. You have no rights and no liberty. You will also learn how to take showers with men named Bubba. You can do what you wish but it is highly recommended that you take the straight and narrow path while here.

After all the news stories and TV mini series and movies and real life stories you hear, you still don't know what happens? May be you are those people who will only believe in what you see or experience. Well, I suggest take some drugs to or use drugs in Thailand. You will get treated like royalty - especially more so because you are a foreigner. As a foreigner, Thai people know that you have money so you will get special personal police escort from where you were found with drugs, processed with full TV coverage in the evening news (with no "pixelating out" of your face to hide your identity) then full escort to the Bangkok Hilton where they will feed you three meals a day for free - in return for bribe money and any other life essentials your family brings you while you await trials.

What happens after that has already been covered by other answers above.

Have great time in Thailand.

It really all depends. I see alot of people on here are saying you are "f==ked which may be true...

However it all depends. If you are an America or European and are caught with small quantities of marijuana you will probably either be fined, deported, or have to pay off the office on the spot. If you are caught with small quantities of heavier drugs like Herion, you will probably serve Jail time before being deported. But it all depends on how much money you have to pay them off.

Now the real bad thing-- if you are caught SELLING drugs , foreign or not you are in some serious ****. You will ceratinly go Jail for many years and may even be executed. There is a big difference in Thailand between possession of drugs and selling of drugs.

If you're caught with drugs in Thailand, it will be sh*t, alright. But not as serious as being caught in Malaysia or Singapore, where death penalty is the punishment for drug possession. In Thailand, you surely end up in jail. But depending on how much you can bribe Thai authorities, you can buy yourself out. But it will not be cheap though. To give you an idea, $50,000 is a bit small especially if you're a foreigner. Once you're out of jail, you get deported immediately and will be blacklisted forever.

The first thing that happens is that you wish you were in the States. The second thing that happens is you go to jail. I don't know if there is a third thing or not.
