Adults, youth and kids are all seating intact in internet cafes with their different activities...despite its services to people, why shouldn't one hang around these places really?

I just moved to Japan and i sometimes hear sirens coming from the streets. It's not police or ambulance sirens. It reminds me of the bomb sirens that they show you in the old movies. I want to know what these sirens are for? This is my second time hearing it and the last time I heard it at night too.

My friend (she's in her 20s) is teaching English at an all boys school in Japan. It's a "richer" private school. She says some of the kids act like they own the world because they're rich and think they can get away with whatever they want (but for the most part, most students are good). Anyway, getting to my question. She's tall (5'8), Italian-American, long hair, "busty" (Pamela Anderson has nothing on her) and she's very beautiful. She says the few kids that are basically spoiled brats make "rude" (trying to be subtle if you catch my meaning) comments about her and her body. She's had notes left on her desk and obscene things written or drawn on the chalkboard. Sometimes (not often but it happens enough to bother her) they even go so far as to touch her. This is her first time teaching and she's not sure how to handle it because she doesn't think it's a good idea to accuse students with parents in high places (and she's probably right). So what can she do? Please post ideas. Thanks.

My cousin got a working holiday visa and is headed for Japan in a few weeks. He skis so I told him he should look into being a lifty for the winter, as he might be happier with that than ESL because he loves the outdoors. Some of the places I have skiied in Japan like Zao and Inawashiro had Aussie and Canadian kids working on their crews. How does an expat go about getting such a job?

I'm looking for some good web sites about Japanese culture including Food Religion and Clothing mainly for a paper I need to write. I'm having a hard time finding information that is a legitimate source meaning not someones high school paper or someones web site with opinions on it. Thank you.

Last summer I sent a month with a host family free of charge (save for the airfare and a little spending money) in Japan. I absolutely feel in love with Nishio (city where I was staying and am dying to go back. However the program I used is no longer available and am in a pinch. Does anyone know of a goood program to use?
