What is the average woman's shoe size in Japan? I wear from a size 8-9 (mostly 8.5 or 8 USA). Will I be able to find shoes or will I have to search?

[Edit]. I would wear a 24.5 in Japanese shoes. If that helps.

24.5cm you should be ok, just...

Jap shoes are either in cm, or in S, M, L, LL. you'd be LL size.

every shop sells up to 24 cm, and many shops sell up to 25 cm. its betweeb 24-25cm that sometimes shops don't stock.

I'm just screwed here as I'm about a US size 10 i think, Jap maybe size 16-17? don't even know.

Shoes are either cheap or really expebnsive, not much in between... expect to pay US$30 or $120+

Japan Shoe Size

I just came back from Japan. Our feet are the same size.

You will not find much selection in the size you need. The Japanese only have S, M, L and IF YOU ARE LUCKLY (most of the time, you are not lucky!) they will have LL which is the closest size you will get to fit your foot. Even then, when I tried on LL, a lot of the time they were STILL too small!

You will have to search and search and try on lots of shoes. However, the only good thing about having large feet in Japan is that if you do see a LL or shoe that fits you, it will probably be at a rediculously low price (the cheapest I got a pair of shoes for when I was in Japan was $5--yes, five US dollars!) because there aren't many people with feet that size.

Hmm, from what I remember, probably around 23-24cm.

I wear a 25.5 usually (in shoes; my foot measured is 25.1cm). I had to buy most of my shoes from the men's section (running shoes, etc). Sandals might be ok for you, since it's not an extremely fitted shoe. I couldn't buy the cute shoes the Japanese girls were wearing.

However, I lived up north in the boonies, where there might have been less selection.

22.5-24 cm

yes. Americans have a hard time finding their shoe sizes in Japan. I would say, BRING YOUR OWN PAIR!

in japan, feet are measured in centimeters. so grab a ruler and measure your foot. if you don't have a ruler; i would guess you are in the mid-high 20s, but that's not super helpful in finding shoes
