I've done it before with a combination of playing around with Melatonin (sleep aid) before and during the plane trip. When I arrived in America, I was virtually jet-lag free, though I forget exactly what I did. I'm making another trip to America and it's very important that I'm as jet-lag free as possible, and I would love any advice. Perhaps there are even things I can do to my diet habits approaching the trip? Anything, please!

I haven't flown anywhere in a few years; airfares were low last time I traveled...I've been looking at prices for a trip I'll be taking next June, and also another upcoming trip next august; the fares are so much higher than the last time I flew...has anyone heard anything about where airfare costs may be headed over the next 6 months? the last time i traveled, there were nothing but low fares...will that be happening again anytime soon?

The DC-3 was the first airliner that could pay for itself hauling passengers. It first flew on December 17, 1935, the 32nd anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first flight.

About 500 of them were sold as airliners when World War II came along and the DC-3 emerged in uniform in several versions, the best known of which was the C-47.

By today's standards the DC-3 is slow, but its speed 70 years ago revolutionized air travel.

DC-3s were common on airlines through the 1960's, but the advent of smaller jets such as the DC-9 and Boeing 737 caused many airlines to retire their "Gooney Birds." The Air Force phased their C-47s and C-117s out in the early 1970's.

However about 400 remain in commercial service today and many airplane buffs love them. I had my first and second airplane rides in DC-3s in 1947 and 1955. My first attempt at the controls of an airplane was in a C-47 in 1959.

Do you love this old airliner and transport? War stories welcomed.

I live in the chicago suburbs. I have a friend travelling from Dublin Ireland, to Phoenix AZ, who has a layover of about 2 hours at O'Hare this week. I would *love* to be able to visit with her during that time, but am not sure how it all works, these days, with security & International flights.

Will she & her family be confined to an area where they can't mingle with the Chicago populace? Will I be able to go in by her, or her come out by me?

a month back I received a marketing call from a travel agent called "Discount premium club" and they managed to convince me to sign up for a two year membership worth £89 by promising to offer huge discounts on holiday packages. after signing up, whenever I call up the customer service, it is always put on hold and nobody picks up the call. I was frustrated by their customer service. I wanted to book flight tickets from them, but they never respond promptly. once or twice luckily I got hold of one of their call centre people and they told me they will get back in an hour, but ignored it again. I even tried sending emails to cancel membership, all my emails and calls are ignored. Is there anything I can do to get back my money?

I'm not really in a position where I could include something like that in the ticket price comfortably, but if I was able to actually afford it, I'd bite the airline lady's damn hand off.

Would you be willing to pay more than $50, even?
