I haven't flown anywhere in a few years; airfares were low last time I traveled...I've been looking at prices for a trip I'll be taking next June, and also another upcoming trip next august; the fares are so much higher than the last time I flew...has anyone heard anything about where airfare costs may be headed over the next 6 months? the last time i traveled, there were nothing but low fares...will that be happening again anytime soon?

In general, prices will increase. However, if you watch the market regularly, you may find some sales. Sales are usually very brief and may only be available for a few hours. Monitor various web sites. Some have email alerts to notify you of changes. Also, in the past, after Christmas sales were common, but even this is a rarity now. Just monitor the fares and have flexible travel days. You may get lucky and get a good deal.

Airlines may cut back on flights and fly with fuller planes rather than raise prices too high in spite of the skyrocketing cost of fuel. There is always a great fare to be had if you're flexible. Generally speaking, flying mid-week is the cheapest or off hours.

Doubtful. Oil prices are on the rise, which will only translate into higher costs for transportation.

Best times to fly for lower air fares are generally off peak times. Such as in May, or September. Summer months are considered peak travel times as are holidays.

Airfares are bound to follow fuel prices in an ever upward direction.

With the cost of gas skyrocketing, I doubt it very seriously. The cost of gas is always passed down to the consumers. I would suggest you make your reservations as soon as possible and maybe you will be a little ahead of the game!!!

Good luck.

Lately prices have been going up because fuel cost is going up and thats because of the Iraq War and the US economic problems--the dollar's value collapsing because of deficit spending. Its possible costs could drop but they will probably go up.

No, sir.

Air fares will be steadily rising because of the skyrocketing cost of aircraft fuel.

Holiday time brings everything up in price. So yeah it probably will decrease. Then again, election time everything will be going haywire, a lot of ups and downs.
