There is no specific limit to the amount of take offs or landings a pilot can do in one day. There is a limit put on the amount of hours he or she is able to work for usually a max of 12 hours before going into "discretion", but this will depend on time of day, airline worked for and country of operation.
When they are training pilots do a series of touchdowns and flyarounds which involves lots of take offs and landings in a very short period of time.

The FAA puts no limits on the number of takeoffs and landings that a pilot can accomplish in a day. They do limit fllight time. For example under FAR Part 121 a pilot can be scheduled to fly only eight hours a day without a relief pilot.
