During the heyday of the anti-apartheid movement, there was constant condemnation of the governing white minority goverment and even more constant whining about freeing Mandela.
News organizations made a cottage industry of the thousands rioting in the townships and the armed white policemen quelling the masses.
Newspapers cried out about the country's institutional racism and the world condemned the violence afflicting the black majority.
Thirteen years after 'liberation', South Africa is plagued with violence - rape, murder, torture being the featured attractions on the bill. The white Afrikaner minority is subjected to a campaign of genocide and their farms are seized by the corrupt government and handed to people that will reduce that land to dust and plunge the country into starvation. See Zimbabwe.

Where's the outrage? Where is the world-wide call for justice? Where are the U.N. sanctions?
Why is outrage selective?

We want to stay in a nice area and use it as a base for a day or 2 riding. Perhaps somewhere near where I can go shark diving too. Accommodation tips in suggested locations would also be appreciated! Thanks

"One Rapist,One Noose" see News 24 .com regarding the demonstration outside Scottburgh Court led by Steve Hofmeyr at the Trial of 3 scumbags. Seems they are not convinced by Mbeki's "crime is a perception" and maybe even the Proudly South Africans will begin to awake from the denialist slumber ( Where are you Anria? You spent last year on this site from the safety of London telling everyone Scottburgh was "safe" and there was no crime.) Your news sites have almost a weekly report of Police being involved in the violent crime ( although toned down to read "dressed as Police." Funny how the unforms fit perfectly and they drive Police marked vehicles.) The ANC is looting your Country using its criminal henchmen. All your cities are unsafe and Pretoria residents want to take the Metro to Court for not allowing them to protect themselves. Are you heading towards vigilantism and isn't it better to warn Tourists against visiting until it is safe to do so.

A report on News24.com states your Cities are a couple of billion Rand short and they haven't even commenced building. Will the taxpayer foot the bill? Maybe the ANC will call in Bono or Geldoff or best of all St Oprah. More likely out with the begging bowl to FIFA.

I read an interesting article about an actress friend of mine. Award winning South African actress, Terry Norton (she and I did a movie together years ago) was walking on the beach with her dog, which was unleashed.
She was approached by a black policeman who was apparently on a power trip and the situation escalated to where Terry was arrested and thrown in jail.
She was subjected to a body search and told that she was a 'white bi*ch' (amongst other things) and that whether she like it or not, 'blacks are in charge now.'
She was humiliated and called the most despicable racial and gender slurs, before finally paying a fine and being released.
Is this equal justice in the new South Africa, or is Terry a white bi*ch?

Don't you think that Jade Goody has apologised enough now. Is it really necessary to demean her . She has apologized so much that if i were in her position i would have told every - one to go away in very polite terms. Not very nice to humiliate her like that . What do you think.

It's almost comical in its denial, and in the way Zuma unwittingly presents himself as what he is - a violent, uneducated savage with four wives and ten children (that we know of).
According to him, the 'media' is to blame for the perception of South Africa as a barbaric wasteland, because 'every place has crime.' Now I know where you guys get that from.
Apartheid is (of course) to blame for the sorry economic state that South Africa is in, and on the subject of the sociopath, Robert Mugabe, he talks of the ANC engaging that nutcase in 'quiet diplomacy.' Uh-huh. Right.
And to think, this paragon of virtue, who showers after raping young women (because it's part of his culture), is going to be your next president.
Good luck.

They knew more than 10 years ago what the country's electricity demands would be now and knew we would have massisve power failures because the existing stations wouldn't be able to supply in the power demand. WHY? They did regularly boast the past ten years how well their affirmative action programme is running, though....
