Find out about Zimbali Lodge. My family had a house there. The place is 100% secure, they have guards 24/7 on motorbikes and horses, there are deer and monkeys roaming around freely, great scenery, a private beach, a hotel with a great pool and a tenants pool too and there is a golf course if that's what you are into. It is actually one of the top golf courses in the country! The place is great for holiday and it's extremely quiet and relaxing! Take care:-)

The obvious choice would be somewhere around Cape Town - it's a popular place for holiday makers (if you were to rent it out at any point) and has great transport access - international fligts go direct to Cape Town.

When I visited SA a few years ago I really enjoyed Port Elizabeth and East London in the Eastern Cape. Beautiful scenery around both of them plus they are on the coast - always a bonus.

If you want to be more inland - then somewhere close to Sun City or the Blyde River Canyon/Kruger. Here you've got both great rental opportunity (if required), relativly close access to Jo-burg airport and some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen.

The whole coast is good. In KwaZulu Natal: Look at Margate, instead of Umhlanga. In Cape Town, forget the old district 6, over crowded.
You have to be careful with the ones in Durban's waterfront. The area is still not up to standard at all. There is still a lot of work to upgrade the whole neighbourhood, which will take years. If someone sells you anything around there, say 'no, thanks'.

As for uMhlanga Rocks is over populated. It is nice, but no space, no room its all squashed. Be careful of areas like that, you take a whole hour from your house to the main road during rush hour and weekends!

Umdloti, Tongaat, and North Coast, yeah, worth a look. Have a look there. But I'll still go for Margate, has huge plots of land and all the fun is there, especially in the summer.

Enjoy!!!!!

South-Coast in very popular. We have just sold our house there a huge house with the most fantastic sea-view. I personally think housing in Cape-town is more expensive specially close to the beach, too windy there as well. Go to South-Coast relatively safe in that area. Love that place.

um I don't think we have resorts in south africa, but i can suggest where to look for a home. The south coast of durban, places like Port Shepstone, Shelly Beach and Pumula. And in Cape Town. try Natures Valley, Knysna, Kenton on sea and maybe Plettenberg bay. All will be pricey though!

Cape Town if you have lots of money. Property prices have escalated to the extreme in the last few years. I do believe the property boom has now stabilised. Another place to buy is Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Margate (Durban), Baizley Beach in Natal, There is so many places to mention. Find yourself a reliable estate agent (if there is one out there) once you have decided where you want to buy and let them do the their homework.

Anywhere on the coast is good. Obviously, the places you've heard of are going to be more expensive (because everybody has heard of them), so if you're looking to let it out, go for somewhere like Cape Town - If you just want it for your own use, go further afield.
Spend some time there on holiday first, decide which part of the country appeals to you.

it depends what type of area you want...
camps bay, cape town, has a gorgeous beach and some nice resturants and bars - it's more expensive and is where the young beautiful people hang out.
observatory is my favourite place in the world - it's a colourful suburb full of students and great little shops and bars/cafes.
anywhere along the garden route is lovely.
up north towards phalaborwa (kruger gate) is lovely, but avoid centeral joberg - the suburbs are fine though to my experience.
somerset west/gordons bay is quite an up-and-coming area...
hope you find somewhere nice!
