It is a country with incredible natural beauty, wildlife and friendly people. It shares one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls, with its neighbor Zambia.
It is also the worst governed country in the world with its 70-something year old dictator, Robert Mugabe clinging to power. During the 1990's he ordered the the killing of about 20 000 Matebeles (people from a different tribe than his own), allowed teenage hooligans to drive thousands (just more than 4000 and counting, to be exact) productive white farmers off their land (some of which was bought by the farmers after independence), imprisoning the leader of the political "opposition" (who should be president) and creating tens of thousands of "ghost-votes" for his ruling party during the last election farce.
Please also ask your scout colleagues why they think America are only out to bring "peace and democracy" to oil-rich dictatorships but are not interested in dictators of poor countries with no oil, like Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe was once the breadbasket of Africa. Now it is one of the poorest African countries. The majority of its people eat rats to survive and it is riddled with Aids. Zimbabwe's President Mugabe,is one of the worst dictators in the world. He has thrown white farmers of their farms and did not care if they were cut to pieces and tortured. Infact he encouraged his "war veterans " to do so. He then gave those farms to people who had no idea how to farm . Now he is saying its because the farmers didn't teach others how to farm!WHAT?
Zimbabwe's inflation rate is over 1000% annually and the people take wheel barrows full of money to buy a loaf of bread.
There is a massive fuel crisis where people will Que for hours in order to get petrol for cars. As you can imagine this has a profound effect on commerse.
Most of the time there is not enough money in banks to pay people their wages and no seems to see who is responsible for this. Mugabe is a CRAZY ,CRAZY man and in the old days SA would have sent its 3rd force to go in and wipe him out. That would have been justice.
As a result of this terrible thing happening ,Zimbabweans are forced to flee to SA , Which unfortunantly adds to the poor reputation SA has for crime . Unreported is how much of this crime is caused by Zimbabweans and other refugees from north Africa.
I wish Zimbabwe had oil , because then at least the rest of the world would give a Damn.

Stop being so clueless and lazy. Do an internet search and inform yourself. A good web-site to start is at: CIA World Factbook.

It has been in the news lately for seizing white ranchers farms and re-distributing them to black farmers. The effects for the country have been disasterous. The new owners have mismanage the farms, food production has drastically dropped and Zimbabwe has become a net importer of food where before it was a net exporter of food.
