It's almost comical in its denial, and in the way Zuma unwittingly presents himself as what he is - a violent, uneducated savage with four wives and ten children (that we know of).
According to him, the 'media' is to blame for the perception of South Africa as a barbaric wasteland, because 'every place has crime.' Now I know where you guys get that from.
Apartheid is (of course) to blame for the sorry economic state that South Africa is in, and on the subject of the sociopath, Robert Mugabe, he talks of the ANC engaging that nutcase in 'quiet diplomacy.' Uh-huh. Right.
And to think, this paragon of virtue, who showers after raping young women (because it's part of his culture), is going to be your next president.
Good luck.

Moloi - baaie goed gese, maar eindlik praat jy kak. Under white minority rule, the rand was stronger than the dollar and blacks in South Africa had the best living standards in Africa. That's not an apartheid lie, that's fact. Look it up.
The disdain for the individuals that make up the criminal gang that is the ANC pertains to their barbaric actions, primitive way of living, criminal behavior and downright thuggery.
That disdain extends to Joe Slovo on one end and to his philosophical equivalent, Nelson Mandela, on the other.
The majority of the characters in this tragicomedy just happen to be black, and the way for them, and their felllow travellers to deflect any kind of criticism is to play the race card.
The only person that brought race into this was you.
Don't you feel kind of silly now?

Loving Resistance - I'm actually kind of surprised that you're defending the animals running what used to be South Africa now, by trying to compare the actions of a government that presided over what was a first world country to the thugs who are now the neglectful rulers of a barbaric killing ground.
The rand was stronger than the dollar from its inception in 1961 until 1982, when it broke parity with the dollar as international pressure against the ruling white minority NP began to mount.
Here, take a look - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rand_(currency)
That addresses your other point of contention - damn right there was criticism of the then ruling National Party.
The thousands killed in the periods you mentioned lost their lives as the country became steadily more ungovernable, as well as on the borders by the SADF.
Most of these people were anything but unarmed combatants, rather they were cannon fodder used by the ANC to perpetuate a state of chaos to overthrow the white govt

The thousands being murdered, robbed, raped, carjacked, tortured and who are dropping dead of AIDS on a daily basis in the Marxist paradise that South Africa has become, are suffering thus basically for sport, as the corrupt savages in the ANC sit idly by and spend as much taxpayer money as possible, allow thugs to run loose in your streets and recommend beetroot and garlic for AIDS.
God help the tourists when and if the World Cup happens. It's going to be a feeding frenzy.
Elements of the the former National Party were no angels, by any means, but the neglect, corruption and thuggery in your government now dwarfs any political scandals then.
I'm not wrong - take Hillbrow as a microcosm; compare the electric nightlife destination it used to be, to the apocalyptic wasteland it has become.
That can also be said for the rest of the country, bringing me back to my original point - under the former government, blacks in Africa had the best living standards on the continent of Africa.

Yes, I did, along with Pieter Boshoff's rebuttal of the Zuma's statement almost two months ago. Zuma is hardly fit for any leadership role in this country.

PS.The dollar was weaker then the rand for a very short time thereafter it gained in strength. From 1985 to 2002 the rand lost strength to the dollar peaking at about R11 to the dollar. From 2002 till now the trend has reversed and the rand is once more gaining in strength and looks to equal it lowest rate against the dollar in a few years. I work for a data vendor for the JSE and downloaded a historical CSV file of the prices extending as far back as 1984. Run this data through a technical analysis program and perform other analysis on the data, take into account certain external factors which influence the market, which I'm sure you are knowledgeable about and you'd see that. You can download a trial version of technical analysis software from the net and contact a South Africa JSE data vendor for a once off Enhanced CSV download for the $-rand.

Apartheid Grand Corruption: Assessing the scale of crimes of profit in South Africa from 1976 to 1994 by Hennie van Vuuren
Institute for Security Studies, Cape Town reveals the large scale corruption of the former minority government. They were just as corrupt if not more so than the current government with sums in the billions still unaccounted for. It makes for some interesting reading. It's available as a downloadable PDF.

Did all the people who are up in arms about the ANC now also complain as heavily about the NP back then? Also, the ANC were a "terrorist" organisation but the ANC actions killed less people than the former apartheid government. No-one seems to be complaining about that now either. The period 1990 to 1994 alone saw 7000 people killed by the apartheid government -that's besides the others killed between 1961 and 1990 (most of whom were non combatant civilians opposing the government using non-violent means). Hardly a justification - a statement of fact.

Yes, what a great government the former minority rulers were.

I'm feeling very sad, depressed and frustrated. It's not long before South Africa will turn into the next Zimbabwe. South Africa used to be such a great country and it's sad to see it going down the drain, thanks to our "precious black community". Why is this happening?! Why must we suffer like that? The police are so corrupted, they don't lift a finger when they hear about all the rape cases, murderings taking place everywhere, especially on the farms, burglaries etc. and believe me, the crime rate is at its worst peak by now and Eskom is moer toe. But wait, we got some huge reaction out of the police when they caught and arrested two members of the Boeremag last week. They were surrounded by the whole police force, helicopters included (and believe me they were all black). The black community are actually so scared of the Boeremag or the white community in general, that they will do anything in their power to prevent us in revolting against them but they can kill us like flies and you will get no reaction out of them. This is sick.

This section of the Yahoo! Answers is a den of racist verkampte whites. What's more interesting is that none of them lifted their stinking mouths against apartheid atrocities. And one can see by their postings that majority grew up being lied to that apartheid South Africa was as rich as US. So, as some of you have left, why worry about what we are doing in this country. If we are taking it down, it's none of your business. And why don't you join KKK in the US or a similar wherever you are?

Those who are still in this country, I bet if we meet anyone of you in the street you profess how non-racist you are. Now you can talk at the comfort of anonymity given by Yahoo! I can help you with a one-way ticket to yur greener pastures, as it's obvious that you lack funds for the trip.

Like they say - South Africa will be governed by black people until the second coming of Jesus (if it will ever happen). Racist whites who don't like this can petition God, but their whinging will never change the status quo. Keep on stressing until you all die. Ek is uit!

There is a very sad situation in South Africa, i.e. everyone complains and gets mad at the ruling party, but when it comes to voting the marjority of the moaners vote ANC. some say "better the devil you know." A lot of black, coloured and indian South Africans are scared that if a "white" party comes into power, we'll have apartheid all over again.

People in towns and cities are few compared to those in homelands. The people in homelands always vote for Mandela's party thinking it is their way of saying "thank you " for all the years spent in prison. We'll have to wake up sooner and realise what is happening. One would think that South African would have taken the rest of Africa as an example, but No...

It is up to us to think and take the right decisions for our future as a country and nation

aren't women second class citizens in any of those countries in Africa ? rape is only being dealt with well in the USA in the past 15 years, prior rape wasn't that big of a deal.... the woman usually got the shaft and the man was considered " just doing a guy thing ".... glad things are changing.

The New South Africans do not understand the concept of rape as they feel they have a divine right to shag a woman when they feel like it. Zuma is not alone. Look at the rapist Ntini the cricketer who has the nerve to advertise insurance citing crime as the reason to have it. Very rarely does a farm or home attack take place when these savages do not rape the females in the household.

I am so glad that I am out of that country, eventhough my heart aches to go back there!!!!! All I am worried about is my parents and the rest of my family that is still living there. Boeremag should rule again!!! Siener van Rensburg saw in his prophecies that South Africa is going to turn out worse than Zimbabwe, so please all white South Africans leave the country to them animals and they will sort each other and then we can return.
