I'm South African, but learned a lot of interesting facts about South African animals after High School. And don't you think our schools should focus more on things that are really important or more interesting? I'm talking crazy right now, but hear me out! Rather than studying other issues we don't even see happening. I mean I knew more about the amoeba than the damn giraffe I saw almost every visit to the zoo. Didn't know if had a tongue so long it could lick its own ear. (That one about the giraffe was to get you guys started!)

I saw some pretty decent questions come through from people that really need answers to questions, but who were bombarded by negative remarks about the country. Don't get me wrong. I am very much for freedom of speech, but I feel that if someone asks a genuine question for homework help or whatever that we should try and help instead of bicker about our personal issues. What's your take?

People are marching in the streets and going on about the crime issue. People are posting new info on th situation on the internet, but sill no real response from the government. What will it take? An uprising? How can we stop the violence? I think we can all share some good advice on this issue and stop bitching about it!

I've asked this question before and it was flagged and eventually deleted. I think it's a good time to ask it again. Dunno why it was flagged in the first place!

Our school plans a big event this coming summer and it has to have a South African flair! This is what the "big guys" planned. Do you have any ideas on what I can present? Anything from music to outfits would be of great help. Any ideas, in fact. I have two days to do the South African theme and the Canadian teacher has two days to do his country's theme. Can you guys help a guy out?

I see a lot of questions in this forum on Robert Mugabe. And I may have asked some myself. But should we consider him a South African issue or not. And why do we talk or discuss him and his policies so much in the South African forum?

I'm a teacher and felt it appropriate to ask this question today as it is "Teacher's Day" in Korea! I would also like to know why and if you wanna add something about a good teacher, feel free to do so! I would have liked the day off, but I gotta go on this stoopid picnic with my co-workers. Eish!

I just got the thing and even though I was asked time and again to download the thingy, I never did. Now I got so many people involved and they can call me on my landline and cellphone for only 20 cents a minute! That's from South Africa to Korea! For me it's much more expensive, but I did get a hold of my buddy, Diezel, and it seems to work like a charm!

My daughter is currently at a home-schooling project set up by an American International school in South Korea, because she couldn't adapt to the language barrier at the Korean school. She will pass the Grade 6 in a couple of months and go on to Middle School level. When we eventually go back to South Africa, will she be allowed to apply for any courses at any university in South Africa. I've already asked an Education official and he said it would be ok if she was to go school there. How about university? Do you guys think she would be allowed? Because we intend to stay on a couple of years longer.

This has been inspired by Tiisietso's posting. In the true spirit of mzansi (trans. South Africa), it could be nice that while we still fight about politics, business etc, we pass happy birthday wishes. What is you birthday - I know some, especially women, wouldn't like to tell their years. Just the month and date is asked here.

Mine - August 15.
