The factual answer is "No" and is proven by steps already taken. FIFA have given South Africa special dispensation to use Boarding Houses which have previously been disallowed and currently FIFA has again been approached to change its rules to allow International Teams and their supporters to reside in Countries neighbouring South Africa. Dont know the outcome of that yet but someone is in for a rude awakening. The Tourist Industry with their fancy prices do not appeal to the mass market where the budget of real football supporters lie so most will be unable to afford the travel and accommodation. As one Answerer said maybe renting out Houses will provide a solution but I would be very careful to whom you rent. Generally football supporters like a good drink and can be rowdy in their behaviour so dont be surprised if you find quite a bit of damage.

Even if all the hotels are full South Africans can all make a little extra on the side by renting out rooms.
My parents have a self catering cottage and are very happy because we live near Durban where a lot of matches aswell as one of the semi's will be held. So they feel confident that they will make a lot of extra money on the side during this busy time.

Yes I do. South Africa actually has cities that look like New York city. I'm also sure probably like any other city that had to prepare they have time to build more hotels. I live in Detroit and when we had the all star game here our city did alot of building up to prepare.

I am certain that FIFA took that into consideration when giving them the World Cup. They are probably building more right now. :) Cheers

A lot of people are planning to rent out their homes. I don't think the accommodation is our biggest problem... don't even get me started on this one. ;o)

I'd more more concerned about the stadiums being ready in time and how many unsuspecting tourists are going to get attacked
To PORGIE,
Why do you even care?? You are in Korea!!
And yes there is always someone around to make a quick buck here so if no hotels you will have people letting out their homes etc.
That answer it?

I'd be more worried about having enough police officers.
