We are planning to visit Victoria Falls (US citizens). We are hoping to fly in, but we are concerned about the viability of visiting Zimbabwe with all the turmoil going on there. The airport is in Zimbabwe.

Questions: is it safe to visit the Zimbabwe side right now? If not how do we get there from Cape Town without flying in directly?

What are the practical considerations of visiting the Zimbabwe side?

TIA. This info changes so fast, I don't even trust our latest-edition guidebook to know how to get around there.

myself and my boyfriend are visiting egypt this year and I want to wear clothes that don't draw too much attention to me and are acceptable for the culture. We won't be in the touristy resorts. There are many answers addressing this subject on yahoo answers but none actually saying what egyptian women themselves wear. Can someone maybe who lives there or has been there tell me what an egyptian woman would wear and what parts are best covered up. Also could I buy something before I go?

It's happening already.
The thugs of the ruling ANC government are crippling the country under a burden of graft, greed and racism, playing the apartheid/race card every time someone calls them out on their criminality.
Racist laws are in place to steal white owned land and businesses and people are told to leave the country if they don't like the crime.
Worse still, a Marxist witchdoctor is the Minister of Health, who, after ground-breaking research, has discovered that the same remedy for vampires - garlic - is also a cure for AIDS.
The South African rand is worth as much as a roll of toilet paper here in the USA and the country is a killing field for any lost souls that hazard to holiday there.
As more and more farm land is STOLEN from white farmers there, more and more people will starve.
Cest La Vie.

Hell no. Idiot white skinned liberals - crippled under the burden of tons of misplaced white guilt - were happy to protest against the so-called evils of the 'colonial powers' and white skinned people in general, decrying the state of poor Africans under the yolk of these villains.
Now that South Africa has devolved into a crime and AIDS ridden nightmare, we don't hear a peep from these morons, except to blame Africa's failings on the past, which the present South African government is happy to do whilst they loot the country, leaving the black population worse off than they were under apartheid.
A great portion of the blame for the tragedy that is the 'New South Africa' can be placed at the feet of meddling idiots that had nothing to lose themselves.

So I've heard many people defend the hijab as a means for protecting a woman's modesty from the lustful eyes of men/to prevent sexual harrasment. My question then is what does this say about the men in societies where hijabs are worn if the women feel the need to go to such measures to protect their modesty? Why do the women have to adjust their lifestyles by donning the hijab when it is the men who were misbehaving to begin with?

As sickeningly high as they are we may still only be receiving the watered down version.

The government reports around 50 murders a day and 3 or 4 times that many rapes. South Africa along with Iraq (a war zone) and Colombia, is one of the 3 most violent countries in the world.

There are huge discrepancies between figures released by the medical research council and and those by the government.

Or you were probably not being as aware of your surroundings as you should be!

These are the statements made by a lot of people living in South Africa adopting a certain mindset about crime and trying to come to terms with a violent existence.

(Crime is prolific in South Africa, there are between 50 and 60 murders every day and about 3 or 4 times that many rapes. Along with Iraq (a war zone) and Colombia, we are the worlds most violent countries.)

Movement outside your home is usually restricted to "safe" zones.

So is the above statement fair in assuming that most victims of crime were doing something stupid or irresponsible?
