Currently working in Paris (non EU citizen), I am thinking to follow my flemish girlfriend to Brussels (who is moving there from London). The biggest stumbling block is the fear of unemployment. How hard or easy is it to find a job in Belgium? I am in junior management level speaking french and english, graduate of a prestigious french school. What scares me is that these guys are looking for polyvalent secretaries speaking 5 languages and unwilling to pay 35 K euros (standard starters salary in france) for junior professionals. Careerwise, does it make sense to move? One Yahoo answer says casually, expect to be unemployed for 2 years. Is this the way things go in Belgium for expatriates?

A girlfriend and I are planning to go to Naples for a week/10 days in October. Can anyone sugest a cheapish hostel in the city centre? Any recommendations on where to go, what to see, where to eat etc will also be much appreciated - I want to see the Roman ruins and my friend likes art - neither of us will be driving. I can look up the tourist websites myself, but would be grateful for personal experiences.

Thank you all

Can anyone recommend websites (or give me other contact information) of hotels/attractions/organisations in Japan that are tattoo friendly? I have two fairly discreet tattoos on my upper arms (easily covered by shirt sleeves).
I've read that most places in Japan are not tattoo friendly, due to the link tattooing has with the Yukuza. I'd really appreciate any other cultural information regarding tattoos if anyone has any. Can I cover the tattoos and still gain admission to places? Thank you everyone!!

OK. A geography question. What percentage of ordinary Americans or British people do you think can identify on an atlas the location of the following nations -

Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Vietnam ....er, Russia ?

Think small.

When I read about murders, muggings, etc, and people talk about the terrible crime rate in South Africa, it seems like 99% of them are based in or around Jo'Burg. If you take South Africa and ignore the Jo'Burg crime (from a travelling point of view), surely it becomes much better? Is it really any worse than visiting some parts of India, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, etc etc etc? I want to visit all these places, but should the risk of crime really stop me?! I'm from Leeds in the UK, and God knows I wouldn't wander round some parts of here at night!!!!!!

last year i met a guy from the united states. he had an exchange to hamburg, germany. we were talking and he told me, that he was wandering that we have cars in germany. he thought we still cook our food on a camp-fire. and many other things. he told me that a lot of his friends think about germany that way.

the most annoying thing was that he thought that everything in germany looks like bavaria.

and another thing i have recognized was that he couldn't seperate between the european countries. he didn' say england, sveden, poland ore even germany, he always said "europe"

why is it that way? was this guy a total dumbass or do you don't learn bout other countrys in school?
