Hi Hun,
Please don't listen to most of what has been said in above answer to you question.
England is a lovely place, nice countrysides, beautiful Views, nice people, good food in the right places etc...
Not all of england revolves around Football and beer, all though i do like to dabble in the both on occasions, like everyone.
There are plenty of places to eat drink shop.
Of course London is going to be expensive its our capital, i live near a place called Macclesfield, a large big mac meal here would cost £3.50ish.
It all depends on where you would like to visit.
We have OK Public transport, which is getting better, i promise, people here are quite easy going on certain things, we aren't considered a racist county we are a county willing to help others.
There are a lot of good things about England if you would like any ideas on places to go, if you do decide to come over e-mail me, i will give you some ideas: andrea292004@yahoo.com.
Thanks

London is a really great place to visit. For the most part, people are really friendly and helpful. The climate is somewhat sucky. It's mostly quite dismal and rainy, but I've experienced many beautiful days there. There is some kind of tree that "sheds" these terrible little pollen-like leaves that get in your eyes and nose on windy days. Bring allergy medicine.
The food prices are terrible. The currency rate is usually 2 American dollars equals 1 UK pound. So for instance if you go to Mc Donalds, a big mac meal is about 5 pounds which is about $10 in the States. And while the sandwich is the same size, the fries and the drink are somewhat smaller. You pay twice as much for smaller portions.
The hotels are hit and miss there. I paid 40 pounds which is about $80 for a single hotel room (one night) and it wasn't even an en suite bathroom. There was no air conditioning though except for July and August, you don't really need it. And there was no alarm clock and the wake up call was the man at the front desk knocking on your door until you respond. Be very careful about choosing a hotel!
There are lots of great sites to see though. And despite the costs...it's one of my favorite cities in the world...

Yeah, I have, because I live in England. The climate is normally cold and wet. we rarely get any extremes of weather, but lots of grey miserable days, the current heatwave notwithstanding.
Quality food is quite expensive, but there are plenty of places that sell cheap chemically enhanced rubbish. The portions are a lot smaller than in the states. a large McDonalds here would be a small snack in the States.
Most people in the UK are unhappy. they dislike the politcal leadership and the way things are going here. They are not upset enough to do anything about it, but they LOVE to moan about it.
We have lots of pubs and nightclubs, many of the youth of England feel that the most important part of life is drinking alcohol and following football (soccer)
They have very little respect for authority or education. spelling and grammer are particularly bad. this is largely due to the use of mobile phones for texting their mates. they would rather type out an illegible mess than actually talk to their mates.
Older adults here spend a lot of their time worrying and moaning. worrying about the youth and moaning about debts and politicians.
If you decide to visit, we will extend a warm welcome however, as the English can be very friendly and welcoming. this is because we will then have another person who we can moan at. we will ask you about all the great things there are in your country and use this to re-inforce our beliefs about how bad things are here.
Personally, I love England. I just wish the English showed that they did too.

Well I live in Glasgow, Scotland and work in London occasionally.
Weather is pretty much hit or miss. Winters are really cold, it rains a lot but it's definitely worth a visit. Where were you thinking about going?
Food - it's pretty much the same as the states.
If there's anything specific u want to know just ask.
