Well, I live in Greece. August is HOLIDAY month for most of the Greek population, so you will not really find anywhere quiet. Myconos, of course is the "IN" place with great night life, wonderful beaches but no really relaxing. I love Santorini, the view to the volcano, the beaches on the other side of the island are spectacular. For a more relaxing hols I would suggest Skiathos or Alonisos. Thassos is also very beautiful (north of Greece) but not much nightlife. Of course Rhodes is wonderful with lots to see during the day, good nightlife, and wonderful beaches. Crete is good, but a big island and you will need some kind of transporation.

Onthe whole all of the Greek islands have a lot to offer. The Greeks generally are good and hosptiable people. Try to find the restaurant where the locals eat and NOT touristy places for good food. Anyway I am sure that wherever you go you will have a Great Time!!!

Good Holidays

ok, i'm Greek and that i have spent all of my summers on some island so i recognize this concern. in the initiating, early June is an rather sturdy time to visit. it is warmth (even if the water can be a touch chilly once you're used to Florida or something) even if it is not any longer intense season yet, so no hordes of vacationers. that is a sturdy time for going to places which could be packed in some weeks. So, in case you choose to bypass the 'it' islands, like Myconos or Santorini, you need to not steer away. They 'll be notably a lot ok and they are properly worth travelling besides. even if, in case you choose a quiet island then take any of those selections: Serifos, Patmos, Milos, Amorgos, Folegandros, Anafi, Schinoussa, Donoussa, Antiparos, Symi. and many better. those are merely my %.. they're eye-catching islands, with seashores and (apart from Patmos it really is packed in August) they're under no circumstances too crowded.

I think, from what u said of course, the best is Paros allthough there are some Bits and I'ld advice u to go at the end of August. Especially if u go to Naoussa in Paros it's lovely.
Mykonos also is another one but it's always crowded (don't know if it's ok for u )
I wouldn't say Santorini which is by far the most beautiful island (No Brits there) cause the beaches aren't sooooo nice.
Have a nice stay !!!

I heard Santorin is the more beautiful Greek Island.

I went to Crete last year (the biggest Greek Island), and it was wonderful ! I just stay in the west part of the isles. The beaches are great (warm clear water), the landscapes are beautiful (especially Samaria), the food is good, and the inhabitants are friendly.

send me a message if you want to see pictures, or if you want more detailed informations

I also loved Naxos as it's far more relaxed than most of the other islands. We hired a four wheel motorbike then drove along the white sandy beach just out of town until we found a nice quiet spot all to ourselves. We travelled through about 7 islands but ended up going back to Naxos from Mikonos for our last few days as we loved it so much.

Have fun!

Crete is beautiful, but as most southern Island very hot in August.
Try Rhodes or Cyprus, or if only for a week Corfu.

I would say Zante its really pretty but quite busy and lively and there isnt that many flight s that go there so its not as tourist ridden as the other larger islands like crete and corfu. A lot of my work friends go there and they love it.

Ios is a wild party island. August everwhere is wild. to bad you don t go in september. but just go. It will be great. avoid the tourist spots, get a local to guide you around. Wish I were going. Been there 5 times But its a long way from California to greece. Enjoy, dont worry you will!!!!!

I went to Naxos and I loved it. It's right next to Santorini. It's like Santorini except without the crowds and the superfluous loud nightlife. Go to Naxos.
