My wife and I are chartering a sail boat from Paros in September for 7 days, and we would like like to have a few recommendations on nice places to sail to. We don't like the crowded tourist beaches too much. In fact, here is what we're looking for:

"Good" List:
Small places with beautiful natural scenery
Quaint villages with friendly locals
Steeped in history
Great restaurants and wine
Protected anchorages with great holding

"Bad" List:
Popular and crowded
Tourist traps with lots of tacky shops
Loud discos full of partying, drunk tourists

Basically, we're looking for those sort of places that you actually need a boat to be able to see them.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

I need to find a cheap and cute rental house on Nantucket. July 22-29. We would prefer to stay in a place that is in town. It would need to sleep 6-10 people. It would be great if it had a yard/patio/porch. maybe like $2,000-4000 for the week.

When you consider the case the a lot of major cities througout the United States of America celebrate the beginning of a New Year like New York City, Chicago, Orlando, and Atlanta to name a few cities. I lived in the Detroit area for over 20 years and they did ring bell to celebrate the year 2000 but after that, Detroit does not have a celebration like a lot of major cities througout the United States and if they do have a major celebration, I would like to know because they never broadcasted it on television.

I'm looking for a way to build a real replica of an authentic, or near authentic, sailing ship like a galleon. What would the cost be to re-create a ship from wood, and to maintain it, and operate it on the high seas. Who builds those kinds of ships? It should be of the 17th to 18th century style of ship, with all the rigging. Where do I find a crew to operate it?

I think that the points disappear and you loose them all. Someone told me that they will transfer them to another airline. Anyone know actually what happened - like with TWA or other airline that never made it back from bankrupcy? Especially curious for US airlines that are always on the rocks like United, Delta, American, NWA - is there any official guarantee they make to its Frequent flier customers??

Has anybody been on the Grandeur of the Seas lately? I'm thinking of doing a 9 day cruise out of Baltimore, and have been looking at some reviews. Many are positive, but I have read a couple that are not, and particularly worrying is that some of the reviews say the plumbing on Deck 4 is bad and that it stinks. That could have been awhile ago, and the issues could have been fixed. Anyone have this experience?
