When you consider the case the a lot of major cities througout the United States of America celebrate the beginning of a New Year like New York City, Chicago, Orlando, and Atlanta to name a few cities. I lived in the Detroit area for over 20 years and they did ring bell to celebrate the year 2000 but after that, Detroit does not have a celebration like a lot of major cities througout the United States and if they do have a major celebration, I would like to know because they never broadcasted it on television.

That's a good question, I didn't know that. Actually I never realized it. Mabey the city is on a budget and a New Year's Eve party is out of the question.

Probably because it's in the Midwest. (I know Chicago is too, but there's an exception to every rule.) We Midwesterners tend to be a bit more introverted and less into the big crowd party scene. We go to smaller parties, or we stay in. The ones who really like the BIG parties want to go somewhere BIG anyway (like NYC) for the holiday.

maybe it has to do with east coast and west coast stuff. New York is here in the east and I think that California does something. we do have the Thanks giving parade though.
