I am going to join track & field, and I know the coach will help me chose events, but I just would like to have some possiblities in mind before I join.
I am...
1. A freshman girl
2. 5'6'' 125 pounds
3. Made varsity soccer as a left forward

Any ideas? Also, I would love to hear about the event a bit as well.
Any information would be appreciated
I would love lots of options

I see the faithful around my neighbourhood risking life and limb jogging on the roadway (facing traffic) and not the sidewalk. When asked, one told me that its better to run on a paved road instead of a concrete sidewalk. Both seem equally hard and unyeilding to me. Is there any truth to what the pavement warriors are saying?

I'm talking about in the final days, what are some tips on what you can do to make sure that you give your best effort on race day? If you have any tips on how to maintain your pace and breath control, best type of shoe, etc., that would helpful too.

I am 51 and fit. I weight train 3 days a week and do cardio using the elliptical and walking on the treadmill with no problem. I cannot run more than about 2 minutes. What is the biggest factor in running, legs, lungs or heart? I'm trying to work all aspects but I'm having no luck in building running stamina.

I am really slow, and out of shape right now, it takes me like 10 min nd 15 sec to run a mile, i have one month left til track starts. its really cold outside so i cant run, what can i do to lower my time to at least 8 min in a month? i have a jumprope, stairs, and a stairstepper. every day i do 10 min of stair stepping, run up and down my stairs 20 times and do 50 sit-ups, i know its not much so what else should i do? i can do 42 sit-ups in a minute. so how can i lower my time 2 min in a month with the items i have? oh, i have DDR too.

I am pretty athletic and do sports. I prefer to run in long running tights during winter because I like the freedom, unlike heavy sweatpants that kind of weighs you down. And it is heck a lot easier to wash and not smelly than sweatpants.

But my dad hates it, I meant really hate it. He says it is the ugly piece of clothing I have. He says any kind of tights just look like crap. I also wear underarmor tight shirt, otherwise I get bleeding nipples during long runs; and my dad hates that too. Some of my friend also say I should lose running tights.

I don't understand why people find it objectionable though. We wear it during football, so why can't we wear it during running?

But I don't really have problem wearing it and have the physique for it. But this constant nagging from other people is putting a dent in my confident in wearing it.

So what do you think when you see a guy running in tights? Do you find it weird or anything? Or do you mind?

I got disqualified because the starter guy with the gun who starts the sprint claimed he saw my foot in front of the line before we started. I was so mad, and didnt get why he disqualified me for that! everyone agreed that there was no reason to do that. Is this fair??
