I purchased my first Walther today and read extensively on it, but was unable to find any information about accidental discharge failsafe mechanisms in the event that the weapon is dropped on it's hammer, specifically when decocked. This concerns me as the pistol automatically decocks itself when you engage the safety. Of course you can tell me not to carry it with a round chambered, but endless histories of the PPK production run praise it as the first commercially successful semi-automatic pistol that could be safely carried with a round chambered. Obviously, I don't intend to drop it, but you can equate that to not intending to wreck your car. These things happen. Thank you in advance for your answers. Good day.

She wants a Rifle, but I thought "Why a rifle? You don't need the range". I thought a Shotgun would be better. She also said, she doesn't want a handgun because she doesn't want the kids playing with it.

What do you all recommend?

(Not exactly Hunting, but I thought I'd ask the gun experts out there)

George Washington, John Hancock, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson, suddenly reappear on the streets of Washington, DC, today..They look at our progress, and historical preservation, and smile. They go into a cafe to have a cup of tea...James Madison takes the check, for 4 cups of tea, PLUS TAX. As they discuss taxing their tea, they go to the Capitol to see the Constitution. They are searched, and are found to all be carriying "pocket pistols", and are arrested. They are told they don't have permits, and don't have "back ground" checks to see if the government will let them own a gun..While waiting to be arraigned, they hear a DA, and a defense attorney plea bargain a case of Capital Rape down to forced entry and 2nd degree sexual assault, to save the courts the time and expense of a lenghty jury trial..Distraught, Thomas Jefferson starts to light his pipe. He is told it is illegal to smoke here...Their guns are confiscated, they are put on probation. Would they be pleased???

My wife found a Remington 700ADL at Wal-Mart for $300.00. The rifle has a 22 inch barrel, and iron sights, and is chambered for 30-06. She's bought it for my Christmas gift for this year.

Two questions....I intend to put a scope on the rifle, should I get see-through rings so that the iron sights are still available for use, and what scope would you recommend?

I live in East Tennessee, so we've got a fair amount of vegatation in the woods, so I'm probably looking at a maximum of 200 yard shots for a deer. I'd like to find a good quality scope for no more than about $150.00.

So my squad is in a debate over wether or not Hoppe's No. 9 solvent is ok to use regularly on a US Army issue Colt M-4 Carbine.

One guy thinks it will pit the metal (the rest of us already know this is not true), but the real debate is on the effect it will have on the finish on the upper and lower receivers. How often can you use Hoppe's without it stripping the bluing off the rifle?

Also, it says on the bottle not to use it on nickel plated parts. Will it jack up the chrome plated bore?

I'm not twenty-one yet, but I'm still in the process of saving up for a pistol. As soon as I turn twenty-one I plan on getting a concealment permit. What is the best model of Glock pistols for concealment AND adequate stopping power? I have been looking at Glock 22s and 23s because I would prefer a .40 cal round.

All these shootings lately. We (rightfully) complain that if a law abiding citizen was armed it could have been prevented. But what would happen if it was?The person who shoots the assailant could be percieved as the assailant in all the chaos and get shot themself by the police. The person could get sued by the "victim"'s family.Sure people would be saved, but what about the person who saved them?I'm not saying I know the answers to these questions,I'm just asking what you think

I would've expected the 1.5-6x42 to be more powerful. However, the 4x38 zooms in further. Overall, which one's better for target practice and hunting? Thanks!
