It was "Future Weapons." This firearm is in production and has a short piston system like the SKS. I believe the 6.8mm is a chopped down .270. Looks like this round shoots a 110 grain bullet at the same speed of the 5.56mm for twice the muzzle energy. Seems like a number of improvements to the M16.

I just watched part of that show.

I've also been hearing about this new 6.8 mm cartridge for a year or so.

I don't know how it will compare with a 7.62 NATO cartridge, but it is bound to be a huge improvement over the damned poodle-shooter now issued.

I have never been an M-16 fan, nor do I care for .22 caliber centerfires in a combat weapon. I'd very much prefer an M-1 or M-2 Carbine for use in combat than an M-16.

It's a nice build on the M16, but I'd take anything that Future Weapons says about weapons with a grain of salt. A very large grain of salt.

Firearms technology hit a plateau about thirty years ago. There has been *nothing* new since then. That sure ain't.

Dressing a forty year old gun up in a new stock and drooling over it is like sticking your mom into an over-tight skimpy dress and taking her to the prom.
