George Washington, John Hancock, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson, suddenly reappear on the streets of Washington, DC, today..They look at our progress, and historical preservation, and smile. They go into a cafe to have a cup of tea...James Madison takes the check, for 4 cups of tea, PLUS TAX. As they discuss taxing their tea, they go to the Capitol to see the Constitution. They are searched, and are found to all be carriying "pocket pistols", and are arrested. They are told they don't have permits, and don't have "back ground" checks to see if the government will let them own a gun..While waiting to be arraigned, they hear a DA, and a defense attorney plea bargain a case of Capital Rape down to forced entry and 2nd degree sexual assault, to save the courts the time and expense of a lenghty jury trial..Distraught, Thomas Jefferson starts to light his pipe. He is told it is illegal to smoke here...Their guns are confiscated, they are put on probation. Would they be pleased???

No, They wouldn't be pleased at all. Would you? If you had the courage to fight a war with(at the time) the strongest country in the world, risk all that you had, just to watch these modern day Americans give it up so easily? Anti gun people say the 2nd amendment doesn't give citizens the right to own guns. But it is written the same way all the other amendments are written. If we don't have the right to own guns than we don't have the right to practice our religion unless we happen to be in a church. Read it and you will see what I mean. Pay attention to how it was written. The founding fathers added the 2nd amendment.......notice it's the SECOND amendment and not the 14th or 18th or farther down the list. They knew that gun ownership was important to a free state and country. They added this so we can protect ourselves from foreign and DOMESTIC threats. That means we have the right to protect ourselves from people who want to harm us.

The foundling fathers would not be pleased.

As soon as they had guns confiscated they would be hoping it was due to some specific ordnance relating to a certain situation or region.

When they found so many people arguing against rights and freedom and "how good it is for them this way" it would break their hearts.

They would be wondering had the british maybe launched a second invasion, or had the US been subjugated somehow.

When they found it was the will of the actual US goverment they would say, "it only took them that long to rewrite the constitution then. What a pity"

They would not bother fighting this time, since the will of slaves is no use in uniting to acheive freedom.

I can hear them rolling in their graves as I answer.
I do on the other hand think that they would be pleased on how far the experiment has come.
We still have the power to change this system however it doesn't start with government It starts with us. They (founders) would have all agreed that the experiment would last only as long as men of honor and good character were predominant.
God help us.

Pretty good story, great imagination but realistic in the sense; we are not free anymore. I was a kid in the 60's so I remember what it was like to be free. More than that , the loss of freedom breeds corruption at the highest levels.
No they wouldn't be pleased and would probably call the country to arms and I would give them each one of my 14 shot 9mm. I bet they would like that. Then they would be pleased.

I think they would be very upset....
"this is not what we had in minded when writing the Constitution."

I am sorry....Tolerance is killing our Country.

Everyone is tolerant of what is going on right in front of them. Rights being taken away for what ever reasons, but because it is the government taking them away it is ok and because it is now against the law to do what ever, those that oppose are the bad guys.

No they wouldn't. Great story. For the record there were quite a few Founders that smuggled contraband.

I'll say they would be pissed! They would also ask questions like what the heck happened to our country, our rights, and why is it $4.00 for a cup of tea?
