savage mod 111?

would like to find a new barrel for my savage 111 i want a 24 or 26 inch heavy target barrel to fit my 111 savage reciever am happy with the caliber .25/06 but want more accuracy ,the short 22 inch factory barrell isnt very good

Two (2)* to Four (4)* inches will not make much of a difference at all.* Save your time & $$$$$.* Is the 22 inch barrel free floated. If not free float it or try different reloads or factory ammo.*

If you get a heavy bull barrel you'll need to open up your stock a little bit to let it free float to ensure you're not getting contact between the stock and the barrel. You can do this by either grinding out some material from the barrel channel in the stock, or by getting a Choate or McMillan stock, both of which will further improve accuracy. As far as the trigger, if you don't have an Accu-Trigger, it might be a good idea to spend another $100 for a good competition trigger, or have your gunsmith run it over.

The biggest accuracy problem with older Savage's is the trigger. Buy a rifle Basix trigger, check the bedding in the stock, glass if necessary. Also upgrade scopes and mount if needed. Also try some different ammo.

If you really want a new barrel Douglas makes a great barrel.
