It being Labor Day weekend AND the start of snook season, just wondering if anyone knows any less-frequented areas around the inlet or Sebastian River so we don't have to put up with people's crap. (And I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about...) So if you know a bit about the area and can suggest somewhere that doesn't need a boat (two people don't work in a one person 'yak, after all.) we'd be greatly appreciative.

Have a great weekend everyone, I know I will.

Do they have Carp and other common fish that we have in our lakes in the UK?

If you are not eating the fish isn't this a bit mean? You stab a worm clean through, thats gotta hurt, then you proceed to drown it and feed it to a fish. Then you jab a hook into the side of a fishes mouth, pull it in by that hole, un-hook it, and throw it back in the water.

Plus you just made it late for something.

I just built
a Cabela's SLi 8'6" 5wt (rod blank is 1.39 oz)using recoil single foot guides and attached a new Lamson-Waterworks ULA p.2 reel (2.9 oz). This is by far the lightest combo I've ever used - The rod casts beautifully, as if there is no effort,
shadow casting, if you will. When I hooked my first trout (a 12" brown) it felt like it was attached by a silken thread. I really like
the feel of it and I had no arm fatigue at the end of the day.
Anyone else try an ultra-lite ? Do you like them ?

I fish the inlests sometimes, and the piers, and from boats. I have never seen anyone fishing form the surf. The poblem with the inlets is the bottoms are usaully rocky and I lose a lot of tackle. Do you know why nobody seems to fish the surf? I am going to give it a try...maybe tonight.

I do a lot of fishing in shallow streams for trout. I've walked some streams for miles when the water level is down far enough. Sometimes I wear waders, but sometimes I just put on some water shoes or flip-flops? Does anyone do something similar? I'm curious to hear what people have encountered while doing this. I came across a very large Snapping Turtle recently that I was lucky to see before I almost stepped on it.

I have been fishing a few times but always used other people's equipment. However, I recently went to Wal-Mart and purchased a rod and reel, round container of hooks, round container of split shot weights, and a 6 pack of bobbers.

I fish in the morning from 7:30-11:00 or at night from 6:00-8:30 in a small (55 acre) lake in WV. I mostly catch bluegill, sunfish, and yellow perch. There are the occasional catfish when I drag along the bottom, and some small and large mouth bass.

I usually just fish with live worms from Wal-Mart but I'm wanting to start a tackle box with some artificial lures. Can anyone give me some ideas what types of baits and lures to fill my tackle box with? If you could give me some links to places online where I can buy them it would be great too.

Usually I have the most success a few hours befreo the high tide. I have also heard that you can do ok a few hours after too. I live a littel bit far from the inlet so I like to make my trips worth while. What parts of the tide have you had the most success?

I've recently became kind of addicted to fishing. And I need all new gear because I realized I need to quit going so cheapy on my gear after I broke two reels this weekend fishing. So any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a budget of about $150 for 2 rods. Give or take. Any info would be appreciated.
