I hate to say it but if you've ever eaten a burger then isn't it mean to blast that cow in the head and hoist it up on a hook a second later and proceed to dismember it? What about the mass slaughter of chickens and such. If more people only ate the food they got themselves then yes we would be more vegetarian then we are today but we would also be more agressive. We are born and raised omnivorse. Our bodies need protein as well as roughage. But I couldn't picture eatting soy burgers all my life. I love meat and will continue to eat it. I eat most of the fish I eat and only throw back what is legally too small or kill the one's that are diseased. In my opinion fishing is an extremely nice way to say hi to a critter you never would have seen up close without that fish hook. What is mean is letting that same critter get weaker and sicker over the course of several months or years through the pollution that is pumped into our clouds and dumped into our rivers, lakes, ponds, creeks, vlies, flows, streams, brooks and oceans on an everyday basis. How much do you fish?
Sure, I will still throw a nightcrawler
( worm ) sometimes when I am home on leave. I'll throw it in the creek I learned to fish in. I would rather go fishing with my dad and talk **** all day to him as he usually does to me, fishing the lures he taught me to fish. Yeah , he out fishes me but there is no shame in being schooled by a master. By the way we use artificial bait, it helps to fish from being dependent on natural bait. I think that if you are so worried about worms or fish you need to start a foundation.

The initial concept is that a worm and a fish are equal in mental capacity and status as humans. I don't put my family and myself on the same level as lower level creatures. That same fish you are concerned about commits animal level "murder" on a daily basis yet you want to pass judgment on the fishing community for their actions. Go join PETA and "murder" animals for their own good.

Fish don't have the same nervous system that other animals. They don't experience pain the same way. Nor does a worm. As far as their schedule goes, the only thing we will make them late for is eating or spawning. And , well that may anger me a bit. But it's not to painful

In the food chain, everything eats something farther down the chain. Basically everything below the top of the food chain is both predator and prey.
If you had to provide your own food, I suspect you would be prey.

OMG do some research people! Fish can't feel pain like humans do. Sometimes people just can't see outside of there own little world. I feel sad, so all animals must get sad, I feel pain so everything must feel pain, that's why I don't walk on grass, 'cause I don't want to hurt the grass and make it sad:(
"Plus you just made it late for something" LOL, I love it, nice Mitch Hedburg bit.

Your just going to get flamed by the fishermen here, but yes it hurts the fish they feel pain like birds and other small mammals, they bleed like you would if you swallowed a hook, and are pulled by that hook into an atmosphere you cannot survive in but I can't say I don't enjoy fishing myself. I love the taste of fresh fish but always try to not harm the fish and always give them a minnow to eat before I throw em back.
