2 miles out is waaay to far, my boat is a 18ft 6" seadoo, great for fishing i'd say, but still to spall to go 2 miles out, especially considering florida's weather changes fast

Not sure on how far to get to that depth, but they have been catching lots of blackfin tuna just over 2 miles distance out of the port . Some of the tuna have been caught in just over 20 feet of water.Lots of mangrove snapper out there that are 5 plus pounds Also some cobia are in that area. And a few grouper

Use live bait what they call white bait or cut bait for snapper and stuff

Further out than I'd be able to go, that's for sure. There's good fishing at the Port without even officially leaving it. They won't let you fish inside the locks, but either side of them (Banana River or Port) there are always hungry fish waiting for the locks to open and spit out a meal. The drawbridge on the port side of the locks is usually pretty nice for flounder, there's times of year when tripletail and nice mangrove snapper hang out right under the buoys around the port... just have to be careful how close to some of the docking areas you get, that's all.

Getcha some shrimp (Real or fake) or some mullet or whatever else... you'll most likely be stopping at a bait store, and all those guys know what's biting what where.

Good luck.

Dont know how far out you have to go to get to 100ft but your best bet is to try one of the party boats. 60 - 80 bucks for a full day of fishing 30 to 40 miles off shore and the bait and tackel are included. Best bait for bottom fishing is usually live or cut bait, or squid. The type of fish vary depending upon time of year and water temprature.
