I purchased a Model 710 .300 Win Mag, took it out one time and the damn magazine clip broke off. I noticed that the new 770 has a much better retaining clip to hold the magazine in. Does anyone know if it is interchangeable with a 710 or is Remington manufacturing a better replacement part for the 710?
While I'm at it, my 710's bolt action is very difficult to unlock (when I discharge a spent casing) and again to lock back in (to fire) - any remedies or ideas? I don't want to ground or file the wrong piece or at all if I can help it.
Thanks in advance!

The place that I hunt is on my aunt's cow farm, so there is plenty of food sources around for the deer.. Such as cor, and alfalfa. The actualy spot that I hunt is on the ground, just inside the woods next to a stream that devides the woods from a huge cornfield. There is several deer runs in front of me, which basically looks like a deer highway. I was out there the other night, and seen 2 deer walk right by me (which I actually shot at with my bow and missed), so there are deer that will come through, but would I have even more takers if I baited with some apples, or something that they are not able to find on the farm? Also, when I was out there, I did end up spooking a deer away that was staring at me from my blind. So basically, the deer saw my hiding spot/ground blind. Is that going to make them weary of my hunting spot now? I am not planning on hunting from there for a few days, but I am scared they will not walk by there anymore because I gave that spot away..

I recently shot a potinal lake record Buffalo. The problem is that I shot the fish at 11:00pm and wasn't able to weigh the fish till 5:00am because the store that does the certified scales didn't open till then. The fish weighed in at 63 and a half pounds 5 hours after I shot it. The lake record is still 65lb but I lost my chance of fame cause my fish lost weight during the time I had to wait. How can I keep the weight of my fish the same as when I frist shoot it??

I'm in the process of shopping for my first precision rig. Now, I'm not into the fancy calibers (read: 6mm BR or any of the Ackley Improved family, or any of 'em wildcats).

As such, I was recommended a few different ones.

.308, which is venerable, apparently pretty easy to load for;

.243, which, with handloads and the right barrel can be accurate to 1000 yards, but is a bit of a barrel burner, or so I hear;

Or anything you're willing to suggest. Please note that I will be building this rig probably off of a Remington 700 SPS Varmint, considering that I like the stock and the new Remington actions.

Oh, and no .50 BMG, or .416 Cheytac. And I can't afford anyting chambered for the .338 Lapua.

You decide. Is hunting a sport? It is defined as "act of seeking, following, and killing wild animals for consumption or display.

I want to know if it is a sport! NOT OF YOU THINK IT IS WRONG TO HUNT ANIMALS! IF YOU THINK IT IS WRONG KEEP IT TO YOURSELF, PLEASE!

What do you think? Is hunting a sport? In an organized paragraph, give your opinion regarding this question. There is no right or wrong answer, but whoever supports their answer the best gets the best answer.
