It would really help if you could tell us what brand shotgun and what brand rifled slugs you are asking about. In addition is your shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" or 3" magnum shells? Does it have an outside the barrel model cone shaped adjustable choke?

Completely safe as long as you use Foster-type rifled slugs and not solid or saboted ones.

Rifled slugs are designed to swage down to size as they pass through a choke.

It is possible, but the accuracy isn't going to be great, and the wear on the choke will greatly increased. If it is a screw in choke, it probably will cause damage rather quickly.
