At what point are we damaging equal opportunities in the name of "fairness" and shouldn't we give players equal chance? I think everybody knows it is the mens sports that gets the tv coverage, the sponsorships and the salaries, why not open up all major sports leagues to be mixed? The only one I could think that would get a serious objection would be Basketball on the height issue, but even that could be overcome because there are plenty of short pro basketball players and as i understand it the girls players are not that short in comparison. Why are we so resistant? Shouldn't Soccer (FIFA English Football) be mixed? Let the coaches and managers decide, and pick who's best. Baseball, Rugby etc. there's no real handicap for the professional women players, if they can cut it, let them play in the biggest league in the sport.

Any legitimacy to the rumors...or just hype?

INDIANAPOLIS (July 10) - First, it was Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya. Now America's top female driver, Danica Patrick, is considering competing in NASCAR.
The Orlando Sentinel reported Patrick's father, T.J., was having exploratory discussions with some NASCAR teams and attended Sunday's race in Chicago as the guest of Roush Racing.

Roush team president Geoff Smith said the team gave Patrick's family members passes as a favor but had not had any serious discussions of adding Patrick to the team.

"If she's interested, all they have to do is pick up the phone," Smith said. "But they haven't picked up the phone."

The report fueled speculation on the first of three days of testing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway that Patrick, whose contract with Rahal Letterman Racing expires after this season, could be leaving the Indy Racing League for NASCAR.

I have started the gym, but the trainer is a jerk, and won't help me much. I start out walking on the machines for about 20 minutes. I was just wondering how many laps make up a mile?

I was talking to my brother, a casual star trek nerd, about nerds, and he told me that people who know way too much about a sport are nerds too. I thought there was another word to describe them, like superfan, except with a negative connotation.
Or have we simply not placed a word for such people because we respect sports more than science fiction and Lord of the Rings rip-offs
