At what point are we damaging equal opportunities in the name of "fairness" and shouldn't we give players equal chance? I think everybody knows it is the mens sports that gets the tv coverage, the sponsorships and the salaries, why not open up all major sports leagues to be mixed? The only one I could think that would get a serious objection would be Basketball on the height issue, but even that could be overcome because there are plenty of short pro basketball players and as i understand it the girls players are not that short in comparison. Why are we so resistant? Shouldn't Soccer (FIFA English Football) be mixed? Let the coaches and managers decide, and pick who's best. Baseball, Rugby etc. there's no real handicap for the professional women players, if they can cut it, let them play in the biggest league in the sport.

It is about time but there is not a chance in hell it will happen. Men are to chauvinistic and old fashioned in their opinions of females in sport. Obviously not all females would be capable of it - just as some men aren't. But there are plenty of excellent female sportspersons out there who could easily keep pace with the males.

Mmm, difficult one. When we talk about the general population then we can see that men and women are the same species and there are definately more similarities than differences, both physcially and mentally. There are plenty of fat, unhealthy men who couldn't play sport and plenty of fairly fit women who would be more than capable.

However, when we discuss top sports people we can see that the males and females do differ physically. This is because sports people are the fittest examples of the human species. Therefore, the difference is pronounced and the men are much stronger and larger than the women. We have to remember that sports people are not representative of the general population. How many people who are not professionals train every single day, twice a day and then go down the gym for good measure?

My solution would be, why don't we let people choose? We could have mixed sports and segregated sports so if the women wanted to compete with the men, they could have that opportunity. It seems unfair to disadvantage the rare sportswoman who is larger and stronger than sportsmen just because she is female.

women tennis players get more of the purse than men. they do have some of the same sports. track and field. look at the different times. a man can run the 100 meter in 9.76 seconds. women is around 11.00 there is a huge difference. show me one girl that can produce what a man athlete can do in the same sport ,There is none. men are faster, stronger. 99% of the time the lady will loose. who wants to be in a sport and loose all the time, because that is motivation( sarcasm)
see that is just it woman can not cut it. can a woman play foot ball, with men. Hell no they will get hurt. can a women hit a fastball at 98 mph hell no. she might but not very often. If you can not see the difference then you need some help. This is not 10 years old playing kick ball.

I don't think you play a lot of sports. I'm all for equality, but you have to at least be aware of the physiological differences in men and women. There are always going to be a few anomalies people will pull out to try to prove a point, but generally women and men are physically different. Get over it. Get comfortable with it. If we were all the same we'd be a pretty boring species.

Well it is not segregation both sexes need somethings to be just for them. Maybe one woman out of 100 will be physically built enough to have an equal advantage with men. What should happen is women's sports should be able to stand on their own but we are spammed now with men teams who has time? A Conundrum. Hope that gives a side to this.

I`m sure if they could cut it with the boys, they would be in there. Men are a lot bigger, tougher and have a lot more killer attitude than women........I dont think many girls would make it in the english premier league, seriously. And I`m not sexist.

You have a point with basketball though....good one

Fact is, Women can't play sport as well as men.

And in contact sports, many of them would get seriously hurt.

This is an example of people being way too PC (politically correct).

I'm all for it. I would like to see the best "people" playing the sport. If any man or woman can handle playing in the NHL or NFL, MLB, or any other sport...more power to them.
