I think winning or losing the WC is secondary in his mind if you are being verbally abused by someone. A man has to stand his ground when provoke by others. Italians are known to be verbally abusive on the pitch, this is not new. I think Mr Materazzi is the one that is showing the unsportsmanship behaviour.
What did USA do when Osama created havoc in the US? They went in search of the "Terrorist" . If what that Italian player said to Zidane is true, then what Zidane did is to show the world what he and us believes in. which is justifiable!

No. Italy played well at every game in the World Cup. France did not. Italy really wanted it, and they won it, period.
