I have been playing golf for about 2 years...so think of it as hitting a 7 iron 150 yrds. My instructor says that "your worst putting job is better than your best chipping job" and that's so true. Any other good tips.

How do I correct a pretty bad slice in my golf swing? Sometimes i slice it and sometime i hit it straight but when I slice it, it can sometimes be pretty bad. I dont understand what's changing from shot to shot.

What kind of name is Sam Alexis? As if being half cablinasian and half caucasian isn't enough to make you the target of bullies, Tiger goes and makes life even harder for his daughter in the future by giving her a wierd name.

I've been struggling with getting to handsy at impact, trying to turn my wrists over at impact to generate power.. My pro saw me doing this and told me to stop it and to work on more of a compact, one piece swing, without the hands action. I know that you have to have excellent timing for this move, but is this something the pro's usually incorporate. Should I be doing it? I'm a 7 handicap and am always trying to be a better ball striker, I'm just confused about what I should be working on? Thanks.

Did you see that guy from Mexico or whatever win the US Open? Good stuff!

Then of course there is Tiger. And don't forget about DJ Sing, or whatever the heck his name is.

Golf is getting a little darker out.

So far in the years first two majors we have two of the most unlikely winners in recent memory -- Zach Johnson and Angel Cabrera. I definitely give them both credit -- they played stellar games and channeled their mojo when they needed it most. Aside from Tiger Woods (who came in tied for 2nd both times -- not a bad showing at all on such difficult courses) where were the other hot shot players? Michelson didn't make the cut, Vijay is having a lackluster year, Ernie Els, Sergio, big-mouth Rory Sabbatini and the rest are just not putting themselves in contention.

I'm trying to learn how to play golf. It seems fun so far. I have a decent drive and ok at putting but i cannot for the life of me hit with the irons. I keep topping them. They go far but i want to hit them into the air and control the spin. My frined says i need to keep my head down but i feel like it is. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I thought Angel Cabrera won because he played well. I was really impressed with some of the shots he made on Sunday. Woods and Furyk played really well, but just fell short. They weren't making long putts but they were deadly within 12'.
Johnny Miller kept ranting about terrible decisions and awful shots while there was a very good tournament going on.
He was even criticizing one player for not rushing on the 72nd so they could wrap up their coverage. Is this what golf on TV has come to?

I was watching the US Open today and somebody had about a 90 foot putt. The announcer said "this shot is no gimmie"...ya think?

On another hole, the Australian golfer, Baddeley, hit a shot that went over the green and down the hill. He chipped it to within 3 feet or so of the hole and the announcer said "Australians are really good at that shot". What kind of retarded comment is that? What does being Australian have to do with anything?

It isn't just today. They make stupid comments like this in other tournaments I've watched. I guess it is because they have to say SOMETHING and can't come up with anything better.

I'm afraid my b/f is addicted to (of all things) golf. He plays golf every Sunday (this morning he left at 7 a.m.) I asked him if he wanted to come by my house afterwards and he said we'd talk more later. Well later- 8 hours later and he was on his way home, he says he is beat and asks if I wanted to come to his house. i wonder if he thought i would say no and stay home, well I went. Low and behold he sat on the couch watching more golf till and was when I left 2 hours late. He plays in all tournaments, goes on golf trips and plays at least 1-2 days during the week. Even friends and just people I barely know make comments to me about him and his golf. Am I crazy for staying with this man. Would a die hard golfer find time to spend with his woman. Oh yeah after the game today- he did mention he had stayed and had 3 pitchers of beer with his buddies. Paranoid I guess but would you all think he really didn't want to see me afterwards?

In the 2 year period between 1999-2001 Memorial, Tiger won 20 out of 40 PGA tour events, including 5 out 8 majors and played a level of Golf that had never been seen before or since. I doubt he will ever approach that level again unless he fires Hank Haney. There were signs last year that he was going to do it again he has now lost it. His current swing is inferior to the 1999-2001 version no matter what he or any of his die-hard fans say. Ofcourse he is going to say his current swing is better, but that doesn't mean it is better. He is in denial if he thinks his current swing is better.

He will break Jacks record, but we can forget about seeing Tiger do the following again:

52 consecutive rounds at par or better(2000 Byron Nelson classic - 2001 Phoenix Open)

35 consecutive tournaments at par or better(1999 PGA championship - 2001 Memorial tournament)

Double digit margin of victory in a major(2000 US Open)

4 majors in a row(2000 US Open- 2001 Masters)

Every time she does anything the media is on top of her adding to the pressure that already goes with playing in a big tournament. Only Tiger Woods gets more media play and that's because of who he is not what he could be.
