hey i just bought second hand prov's and just wanna give it a try. i bought it with hardly any scratches, looks like brand new. original price was 9 per ball and i bought it second hand for only a dollar fifty cents. Do you think the core might be damaged or something? and it's not ok to buy second hand balls? im not too really sure so that's why im asking.

Thanks! 9 hanidcapper

I've purchased used ProV1's on ebay before and have always received balls that were in excellent condition. If they aren't all scuffed up and look like they're in good condition, I don't see any reason they won't play the same as a new ball.

Wow! $9 per ball is pretty pricey. You should be able to find them for almost exactly half that. It isn't very scientific but one thing I do with used balls is to drop them on the cart path (once) to see how high they bounce. If you always drop them from the same height it gives you an idea if there is something wrong with the used ball. My opinion is that unless you replace your ball every couple of holes like the pros do, then we all play with used golf balls, and used clubs too!

They'll work fine. I haven't bought a golf ball in YEARS. I find them all. I usually find between four and ten balls a round. I walk when I play and always walk the rough where I find them. Of the balls I find, most of them get thrown into the shag ball bin but I keep the good looking premium balls to play with.

As a general rule, no, it shouldn't be a problem. Most "secondhand" golf balls are recovered from water traps on the course, cleaned and resold. Obviously, if they look damaged, they are. Also, while it's ok to use them for practice or non competitive games, I wouldn't use them during a serious game, just in case.

hoping that you meant $9 a sleeve. I often play with used balls except in tournament play....just to be safe, but there is nothing wrong with them

they are fine unless they have been waterlogged, if they are waterlogged balls they can lose distane on shots and they dont spin as well.
