does it have to do with the compression or the size of the head?

The measurements you cite have nothing whatsoever to do with compression. Its the measurement the club head displaces in water measured in cubic centimeters.

cc stands for cubic centimeters. It is simply a measure of the volume of your club head, which means nothing until you have a club you ar familiar with a certain size of CC that you get familiar with and think "I'd like something bigger"

330CC is the small size, 460CC is the largest size. Part of it has to do with marketing that bigger is always better. Depending on your style you may not do as well with the bigger clubs. I personally use my 3 wood almost exclusively because the extra height gained makes the ball go farther than the 1 wood. Basically when you get get a heavier driver the face of the club gets bigger, which can sometimes mean it will be harder to hit the ball right if you are used to a small club face. A bigger club face gives you much more ways to hit the ball wrong, and it is heavier so you may find yourself swinging it wrong. Personally I would buy it just to try it out, but bigger won't always make your game more precise and your drives longer. That said I know you need the bigger drivers to get that extra sometimes and just have to get used to them. Basically Newton's law of momentum, the higher the mass hitting the ball the more momentum you will get. Finding the mass that is perfect for you and how you like to play can be tricky. I have never thought about this at all, I would probably try a 400CC and see how I liked it and if the bigger head made any difference in my yardage and if it did I'd try a 460CC.

The other answerer is correct. in addition, the 460cc head is the maximum allowable size under the Rules of Golf. Recreational golfers, not worrying about improper size, can go as high as 600cc...Its a monster..had one for a while

volume of the club head in cubic centimeters. If you were to dunk it in water, that's how much water it would displace.
