So far in the years first two majors we have two of the most unlikely winners in recent memory -- Zach Johnson and Angel Cabrera. I definitely give them both credit -- they played stellar games and channeled their mojo when they needed it most. Aside from Tiger Woods (who came in tied for 2nd both times -- not a bad showing at all on such difficult courses) where were the other hot shot players? Michelson didn't make the cut, Vijay is having a lackluster year, Ernie Els, Sergio, big-mouth Rory Sabbatini and the rest are just not putting themselves in contention.

I am willing to cut Lefty some slack for the U.S. Open -- unlike Michelle Wie, he was actually subdued by his wrist injury.

There's some good talent out there on the tour right now, so it doesn't surprise me at all that some of these lesser known guys are winning majors. Will any of them win again any time soon?? I guess time will tell, but as of right now, we don't have any big names with Major trophies. I'd bet that we get a bigger name winning the British, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we get a Baddley, or O'hare type of guy winning the PGA Championship.

USGA is making the courses harder so it 's anybody's game to win. Furyk was tied for 2nd with Tiger and should have won, if not for using the driver on the 17th. Cut Michelle Wie some slack; injured wrist and shaking off rust, she'll hit her spot in a couple of months.

I dont think so, there are a lot of golfers that have always been close to win opens, cabrera was one of them, he was really close to win 2 or 3 i dont remember exactly, but in the last holes, they didnt make it. So they are not unknown. In the US maybe they are, but they have a name in Europe, a reputation, and wining this kind of championship they show that they can also show good shoots.

Sometimes is boring to see that every time the same guy wins, so its good to have a change once in a while.

Tiger will probably win another major this year. Most likely he will skip the British Open due to the birth of his kid, but afterwards I wouldn't be surprised to see him take the PGA Championship. Mickleson should also contend once his wrist heals up.
