Is Muhammed Ali the greatest boxer ever? Strenths for Ali is speed and a good chin. Weaknesses for Ali no knockout power and when he fights a fighter who crowds him he has a hard time fighting him. Frazier. I think a big modern heavyweight in his prime like Lennox Lewis would stand a excellent chance of beating Ali in his prime. Remeber Ali was floored and hurt by a much smaller heavyweight Henry Cooper. I am not saying Ali may not be the best heavyweight ever I am just saying don't believe it just because he says it and the media says it. Joe Louis can be considered better then Ali he just was not the loud mouth Ali was and he never really was as controversial.

Was Mike Tyson's career the biggest fraud ever perpetuated in boxing? Did he beat up a bunch of cab drivers and flight attendants early on to scare fighters that had a chance to beat him? Meanwhile, skillfully avoiding the fighters that would definately beat him (Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis)? Was going to jail actually good for his legacy because he got to avoid those guys until he had an excuse to lose?

Was talking to a boxing fan today, a young pup who wasn't around for Leonard Hagler. Was interesting how he had no opinion on what was really the last true "Superfight". So Im curious as to what younger fight fans, who weren't into boxing at the time, think of this fight. And I'm also curious to see if older fight fans thoughts and opinions of this fight have changed with time. One thing that impresses me more now than it did then was just how much physical talent and skill and determination was displayed in the ring that night. I think I took it for granted that 2 supertalented fighters would get into the ring and put forth maximum effort. It wasn't a brutal fight, but 2 fighters as supremely skilled could only have a close, hard fought fight. A great one for the boxing purists.

I know many will say he beat older guys like Archie Moore who got a shot at the Rock by beating top contenders Nino Valdez and Bob Baker. Some say Ezzard Charles was past his prime but he was only 32 when he fought Rocky. The truth is he never avoided anyone and won every time despite disadvantages especiallly in reach making up for it in sheer determination, heart, willpower and of course punching power.

the difference in championship rounds might be a factor (12 or 15)on who would win .i think michael spinks was a great fighter and very underrated and think he would beat jones maybe by ko in a 15 round fight.jones best chance would be by decision in a 12 rd fight. remember spinks also went up to heavyweight and won ,except he beat the best heavyweight of his time(larry holmes),not a joke like ruiz.

Ok, what were some of the best fights that never came off. I'll start it off with 2 suggestions that no-one probably would have thought of.

Larry Holmes vs George Foreman 1979 and Larry Holmes vs Teofilio Stevenson 1980.
