Well actually it is hard to tell because boxing has changed since then and the techniques and ring generalship that helped Ali win a lot of fights in his time are really hard to use in todays fights. For example, Ali would lay against the ropes and cover up and let a fighter punch himself out before he would rebound and start fighting back. Today if a fighter is getting hit with a lot of punches and not punching back the referee will often stop the fight. Also the boxers have just gotten bigger and bigger since Ali's time so he possibly would be facing a lot more powerful fighters. With this said, he might have to adjust a little but as far as pure boxing ability and talent...yes I still think he would have been among the top elite fighters if he was around in the 90's.

Are you serious? He's the greatest heavyweight of all time. The real question is can the so called "elite" fighters of the 90's be compared to Ali, or any of the greats from his era?

hello JON you're decrease back lower back guy! Marquez isn't a enjoyed ones call and that i think of the media are fed up approximately Marquez. He style of have a humdrum character which easily has helped in slightly because of the fact regardless of Mayweather and Pacquaio gets from media of being referred to as cherry pickers or duckers, then that's purely actual to call Marquez an identical element. in reality many boxers may well be referred to as an identical element. Marquez is common for almost beating Pacquaio via a distinctive decision yet he's unknown for a arguable win over Barrera. sure that's unfair, yet Marquez isn't a brilliant enjoyed ones call so maximum persons do not possibly care plenty.

The heavyweight division of boxing is one of the few areas of sports in which skill level has actually declined sharply over the past several decades. Guys are bigger, and in some cases stronger now, but a lot of them are just big stiffs..No fundamentals, no heart, no real talent size and athleticism...I don't know why the talent level is so poor now, but I have a hard time identifying "elite" heavyweights in the 90's...You have Lennox Lewis, Holyfield and ???? and please don't bring up that crack baby Tyson...Ali had superior skill no matter what era you place him in..Unorthodox, as he almost exclusively threw head shots and kept his hands low...but superior foot speed, hand speed, and precise punching..He also had surprising power.....Ali really is the GOAT...

Better. Ali is considered one of, if not the best ever. Most 90s boxers were worthless.

Ali could hang with anybody from any era. He might not beat everybody, but it shouldn't be a shock if he did. Most people who talk about the 90's fail to mention Riddick Bowe. That guy had the talent to be one of the greatest ever! Too bad he was too much of a flake to fulfill his destiny. He could have cleaned out Holyfield, Tyson, and Lewis.

He was the fastest heavyweight I have ever seen. He had a very good jab, movement and power. He was better than any boxer since then including the 90s and 2000s.

As well as his physical ability, Ali boxed with his brains. Cunning skills that match the modern style. You can say that most fights of today, bear resemblence of yesteryear!
