when comparing boxers from different eras I hear alot about modern training Dempsey trained the way Louis trained the way Marciano trained the way ALI trained the way Cus Damato trained a street thug named Tyson all same never changes roadwork ,gym work, ring work , jump rope ,spar ,heavybag, speedbag, medicine ball situps pushups eat steak every day Like ALI ,if you can afford it never changes so why bring it up?

I am about to get the chance of training with a world class boxer and I just want to know how to get in good enough shape. (To be honest if I had my way I would be in the same shape he is in) I am sure that if he thinks I suck or am not good enough he wont really want to train with me.

I just want to know what kind of workout regimen do Pro athletes follow? I know it's not likely but I want to get in incredible shape in 6-12 weeks and am willing to do basically anything to get there.

I've had trouble digging up how he trained, other than he ran a lot, beat up a 300 pound heavy bag, and did underwater punching. Has anyone bought a book detailing it that would like to post the routine here, or have any of you found a site with a laid out plan that he did?

Evander Holyfield seems to be the last real tough guy. Before that, Frazier. Back in the old days, all those guys were tough. Why don't we have them anymore except for some of those smaller Mexican guys?

Rocky was 49-0 in his career. I know some boxers bigger, but also alot of weak people who don't belong in boxing. Just there for the money. Rocky was talented, unlike some these losers that get into boxing these days. Thoughts???

Evander recently has been the MOST consistent of ANY American heavyweight. His conditioning is always superb and his skills are sharp. He demonstrated this outpointing Fres Okendo and Lou Savarese. He is a shadow of his former self, but he at LEAST has a 40% chance to grasp at least PART of the Heavywieght crown. There is no other American fighter on the horizon who can make this claim legitimately. Love him or think he's washed up...truth is, he is the best we have.

Do you support this title above and beyond the other titles out there? Or is the Ring title simply a media tag? I'm doing an article on the history of championships in boxing for AOL Sports (called "The Alphabet Bandits") and I would like a fan concensus. Thanks!

I`ve heard most of his losses were by cuts and that he usually gave as good as he got. I know he lost to Ali and Frazier but against Frazier he gave a good account of himself. How would he of faired in his prime minus the cuts against some different era champions like Lewis, Bowe, and Tyson?
